MiL promotions

Hello,

I'm currently playing as manager of a low A minor league team. I started with a rookie league team and plan on working my way up as a manger. I did a fairly decent job with the rookie league team and was promoted to low A.

I'm currently a third of the way through the season. Due to injuries my team is down to 10 everyday players (pitching staff is fine). The AI will not promote players from rookie. The rookie roster has 41 players available and its season has not started.

I don't want to play my backup catcher as a position player. Is it a glitch? What do I need to do?

There's a setting in the major league rules. It's probably set to place players based on skill, rather than filling all rosters.

I am wondering what an MLB organization would do if a low A team were decimated by injuries. Would they promote rookie-leaguers whom they may deem are not yet ready, or would they sign a few free agent scrubs from somewhere? My guess is that it could be either, or a combo of both.

From the way you described how you are playing the game, I'm sure you don't want to cheat; you want to earn your way up the ladder. However, if it were me, I wouldn't want unrealistic restrictions in the sim holding me back & forcing me to manage unrealistically. Therefore, I'd go into commissioner mode and sign maybe three of the lower-rated free agents, players who may not have much in the way of a bat, but could each cover two or three positions defensively.

That would be a pretty fair way to address the situation, IMO.
