Help from Graphics/Style Gurus?
Have an issue I've been trying to solve for most of the version, and still can't get to the bottom of it for some reason. I've asked Andreas, hopefully he'll provide the answer, but just in case and impatient me, asking here, too.
The screenshot below shows what my background table looks like on this particular screen after I select either of the Select tabs. I use the dark skin, and of course my personal skin.bin. I've been trying to isolate the file or file color code, if that's where it is, in the Colors directory, but running out of ideas. Can any experts suggest where this background menu color might be located so I can see the menu items? Thanks in advance.

Well? If that's the frame, and it looks right, the background 'seems' to be set to the right color. So....why would it be showing up white? I'm not necessarily pressuring you for an answer, tx, just typing out loud. I think you're on the right track, though. I think it's a color code or line in the style set text somewhere. Hope Andreas can point it out. Oddest thing. Been troublesome for some time.
I sure appreciate your help. Thanks.

Oh, and in the interest of clarity, the white rectangle to which I'm referring is the large white dropdown that's hiding all of the menu items unless I hover over them with a mouse. In all other screens, this is grey, not white, and I'm able to view all menu items contained in it.

Well, uninstalled and reinstalled Steam and the problem was gone. It doesn't appear until I install the actual skin files and rebuild the skin.bin - then voila! White backdrop is there! Arghhh.... The ONLY little thing in the game that doesn't perform the way I'm expecting it to, as goes the GUI. I should let it go, but uh....you know this game sort of attracts the obsessive.
I'm going to conquer this one way or the other.

So you have a modded skin? Sounds like it something to do with your skin and the files contained in it.

See first post. Everything carried over, everything, except my mood icons, which are an essential to me. But as soon as I install the skin files and rebuild the .bin the white background on that drop down starts showing up.

What graphics are you changing? It has to be something with those.

Then, I install (well, I can't really install as Add-On is gone) the actual skin files that came from Add-On Central and put them in the skin directory. It won't do anything, that is know they're even there, unless I rebuild the .bin file. That's only loading the actual skin files with NO changes. But, alas, something does, as that screen now has a white dropdown background. I'm stumped, but I'll keep experimenting. And truth be known, everything is just fine with the reinstall, except I cannot live with smilies. I cannot. But again, I do NOT change anything except let the skin.bin rebuild with the actual skin files.Edit: Know what? I'm just going to try and give up, at least for now. It's such a small thing it's not worth the stress. If Andreas has an answer, fine. If he never answers, well, fine too. I'm tired of trying to figure it out. Messed with the non-steam version with the same results and other funky things, so going to quit before I make something worse.

Ok that's strange... you threw me off with the skin.bin rebuild. I do the same, but I have icon mods, so I have to do it after each patch.
Hopefully they figure out a fix for you. |

Solved! Oh, how the little things haunt us. Andreas updated the skin files at add-on. Downloaded. Bit awkward moving them to the Steam data, but got it done. Gone. I use that screen rarely, in part because that dropdown irritated me.
But now, I'll be using it more, I'm certain! Thanks, Andreas!
