Exclamation OOTP 17 Update #9, Version 17.11.70 Officially Available Now!

(this used to be the public beta thread for update #9, but it is now officially released)

Important: This update is only for OOTP 17 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version.
It is NOT compatible with the Steam or Mac OSX AppStore version! The Steam update is available via the Steam client and the Mac AppStore version is pending review at Apple, which will take some more days.

Good morning!

We have prepared another update for OOTP 17, it contains several fixes and tweaks.

Here is the complete changelist for update #9 (compared to update #8):
- Fixed error where low ticket price and high stadium capacity could cause too many season ticket sales
- Fixed FB landing locations to better reflect CF putouts
- Fixed error where low active roster could cause huge estimated league average team payrolls
- Fixed issue with export/import of player stats where fielding stats would not import with a league id
- Fixed shop player error when team is negative financials
- Fixed case where human teams could not offer extensions during reserve era rules when extensions were allowed
- Fixed team pitching splits reports
- Fixed case where signing bonus was incorrectly counting towards the salary cap
- Fixed player talent calculation in historical leagues when talent is based on remaining peak years
- Fixed draft AI when using predefined historical player draft values
- Fixed case where AI would negatively value prospects
- Added the option to edit a player's historical draft value (player editor tab, draft status section)
- Adjusted international amateur FA demands
- Adjusted RP demands
- Adjusted player expectations
- Adjusted AI secondary bullpen roles
- Fixed several small bugs and cosmetic issues

Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

The public_beta depot on steam is sending out a demo version of 17.11.69 for Linux

Windows is giving me a licensed 17.11.70

EDIT: Also postseason stats don't seem to be added. Is this going to be a part of the Patch #9 release?

Well, it's also a holiday in the US---Labor Day---so a lot of people are generally at picnics, cookouts, and other places that aren't inside at their computers today.

It says "Saved games are compatible between different versions." but this wasn't the case with the last patch, just want to make sure it is true with this one.

For online leagues; can GMs and/or the commish update and still have those that haven't updated still work? Very awkwardly worded So does the commish and all GMs have to either not patch or all be patched?

Having to have everyone on the same patch is a huge issue in online leagues, especially when people may be in multiple online leagues and not all commissioners apply patches at the same time.

they are compatible. pretty sure i've used the same saved game since patch 3. maybe i missed something, but i've never seen on incompatible with previous save before.

if just about online leagues... all teams must be running the same version. if it wasn't clearly stated in the patch (odd it's usuall in the fine print of an update, maybe because it's a beta), it's clearly stated in numerous other areas of the forums and also in the manual.

From the manual: "All members of an online league must have the exact same version of OOTPB installed, including any patches."

remember google is your friend for reference material questions.

As far as the "huge issue," i'm sure they can all handle a simple instruction when communicated to them.... i guess when you put a sign up saying "don't push this button" a certain amount of people have to push the d#mn button. try some positive reinforcement at first and if that doesn't work emasculate them in your league's forum for being incredibly dim, lol.

What can be a huge issue is that many online players are in multiple leagues. Some run leagues and are in other people's leagues. So when a patch comes out there needs to be co-ordination among many different leagues and that can be a huge issue. When people in the league I run tell me commishes in other leagues they are in have patched and told them they must patch and other people say their other commishes aren't patching yet. It can be a logistical nightmare.

I understand patches sometimes can't avoid making changes that require everyone to apply the patch but it is important that we know of that at the time so we can plan out how to apply the patch.

What would make the issue easier for me and probably many others would be the ability to set up multiple versions of OOTP17 on the same machine. This may be doable, we just may need instructions on it. Then we could set up a patched version and move games to it as leagues move to the patch.

edit: and also the issue of Steam. Once the official patch is released anyone using steam is going to be patched even if their commish has not yet applied the patch for whatever reason.

Five games in with the beta patch and I haven't seen any wonky 3D issues. Also, I haven't seen the black pawns.

Does this beta this fix the issue of baseball cards not generating for players with accent names (i.e. José Rodriguéz, etc.) for Mac users?

It's simply wrong that all users must be on the same patch. Unless the patch notes specifically say that file formats were changed and all online users must be on the same version, it won't be an issue. Still though, as a commish I wait until the steam updates go live then I patch

No, unfortunately it turned out that this is an issue in a third party library and hence out of our control.

Well, there is no way around that if we changed the file format (which did not happen with this patch, and rarely does). If the commish saves the league file with the latest version, users on an earlier version will not be able to load it, there is no technical way we can prevent this. So, the commish has either to stay on the previous version a bit longer and/or he must make sure that all users update their copy, which frankly is not that hard to do IMO.

I have a problem that almost every team doesn't have a top prospect list, and the playing Level in the top 100 prospect list is almost all set to ''ALL''

Never had that problem before

I cannot reproduce this here. Please try changing the prospect list to "on demand" (Game settings, Global Settings Tab, Reports section on the right side), check the league prospect list, and then set it to "annual" again.

I can only change for annually or dynamic :S

I changed the AI setting evaluation for player, could it be the reason?
