Add the independent Pacific Association
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacifi...Baseball_Clubs
Of course, international leagues have development precedence over low-level independent leagues, but the Pecos League is in so I see no reason the Pacific Association shouldn't also be in. |

We considered this but due to various reasons it's not going to make it in this year. Hopefully next year.

I see the reason. There are better things to work on than adding an independent league 99% of players wouldn't use.

Personally, if a supposedly for-profit league doesn't report attendance, then it ought not to be included. Paid attendance is a pretty fundamental part of any truly professional sports league.

I would support the idea of using some kind of cutoff so we don't get every semipro and beer league in the country. What's the MLE for a Pacific Association batting average of .300? They have to have enough interaction with real professional leagues for OOTP to be able to rate them accurately.

Well, I just checked over at Pointstreak.com (the site which posts the official statistics for the independent leagues), and it turns out the Pacific Association has attendance figures for its 2015 season. But the numbers are below what one can find for some of the summer college leagues. The league average attendance per opening was just 300.
The Pecos League has no posted attendance figures. |

So the "if Pecos is in" argument is starting again?

It's a valid question to ask, or as swampdragon put it:
Just what constitutes a proper professional baseball league? Even reference sources have to have some sort of criteria. |

![]() If we think it's worth the time, effort and energy to add a league, we'll do so. If not, then it doesn't get added. Obviously Markus has veto power in all this, but our respective common sense and energy levels for adding more work, along with an assessment of the possible benefits to the game and real life viability of the leagues are the basic filters for what leagues get added, what leagues get placed on our 'watch list' (where the PA is right now) and what leagues don't make it

Many players are already in the game, some say "retired" but it's super simple to create the league and its teams.
I did it a few times during the year. Most teams end with almost 20-25 players if you look them one by one. In one of my saved games I'm still managing the Stompers in 2020. I would love to have it by default next year. <3 |

You're right that it's not a major undertaking, but every little bit added is that much more to deal with. That's not to say we won't add the PA next year, we'll certainly discuss it at some point and we'll add it if it seems feasible.
