On the topic of "What if" worlds
Is it possible to edit files so that your league structure would become the new default history of MLB...ie adding expansion in the 20s or 30s and simply having it magically appear, the way the Mets, Colts, Angels, and so many others do with their ballparks etc. already assigned in real MLB history?
Is it further possible to have the minors flow along with this? What files would need to be edited? Or...is it coded into the program? If I've missed something already posted to this subject, please direct me there. Thanks in advance!

I'm a bit confused by this question. Can you try rephrasing it?

I want to create a false historical narrative that can be applied to every game I start so that things develop differently…ALWAYS.
Examples: 1. Expand into Houston in the 30’s. When I create the team, have them start in Buff stadium as the Colt .45s, hopefully along with an appropriate slate of minor league teams—meaning NOT adding the Far City Ramblers but instead offering up say, the Corpus Christi Hooks. Can this be made to happen in the same fashion that the Mets, Angels, et al get added to the game now in the early 60s? 2. Auto changes in scheduling/league structure/playoffs to accompany this. 3. Franchise relocations that would be predetermined in this alternate history, akin to the Seattle Pilots relocation. In other words, I want to develop a complete alternative line of history that in any game I start would follow the same pattern, just as the actual history of baseball is followed now by the game, so that when I go to the menus in Game Creation & select a League that starts in 1940, Mt teams always include the Houston Buffs, the Hollywood Stars, and the whole slate of real teams…and so that in 1943 of all the leagues I create, the Browns move to say New Orleans.

Not possible to make it do what you want. You're creating a fictional world, therefore would have to do everything manually, each time.
Not sure if templates would work for this idea or not. Last edited by Bluenoser; 08-01-2016 at 10:19 AM. |

I think you could do this. It would probably be a ton of work, but it could be done, I think. All team and league info is in a database, right (the Gambo database?)? What's to stop you from making a duplicate of that database, edit it to what you want, and then just have OOTP point to your local, revised version of the database?

I think there is an issue with how those databases are compressed. I don't think we have the ability to do so in a way the game will recognize.

Irregardless if its possible to have it pop up automatically youd spend incredibly less time just going to the league setting menus and just hitting expand and then editing the minor league teams to the names and places youd want them to me. New schedules can be found in the mods sections of the forums.
