Minor League craziness

I did an MLB Quickstart, and I am playing as the Brewers. I got to September 5th and wanted to see if any of my minor league teams made the playoffs. I saw that the Beloit Snappers won their division with a 107-33 record. So I looked at their team a little closer. they have an average age of 24.7 for their 28 players at A ball, the oldest being a 33 year old RF. It appears that their best players are right around the age of 24, but that still seems old for single A. Then I looked at their Arizona league, because they won that too and there are 117 players on their roster. They have 2 - 27 year old 3B in Arizona rookie league.

This is a quickstart right out of the box. It's still 2016. I plan to put some roster limits on the minors and maybe some age limits, but I think some thing should be looked at in the minors. This isn't a custom league.

Will I run into issues with this if I put roster limits on during the offseason?

Also, I've played 2016 3 times this year, and Chase Anderson always has 2099 stats when you hover over him. He plays for Arizona in 2099, and his stats are eerily similar to 2016. So I know he'll still have good stuff at 111, I should sign him long term now

i'm not sure if it was as prevalent in '16.

however, there is a definite issue with minor leagues filling up with FA that 'shouldn't' be there. there's another thread about age limits that can help, too.

AAA- none - you could try 32-35, but then old guys can 't rehab, i think.

A/AA - 28 / 28 or 26 / 28, for the sake of older college kids in draft, don't go too low here.

A- - again becareful of excluding older draftees. 23-26?

R - 22-24

Other settings that might help and are not default, from what i recall:

go to Stats and AI settings page, then select each minor league and change the minor-league-only that refers to who the AI will start - "Play Potential over Ability" is the setting you want. this will ensure that the high potential prospects get the starting nod. so, if you have some older players in there, they may not even be starters, which helps.

i wouldn't use roster limits unless you click through the league and see a major and recurring problem. by setting the # of relievers and bench players in the settings (defaults for a 25-man all ready there), i find they don't get too crazy with large #'s in the minors.

don't change settings of convenience that affect minor league assignments and such.... so make sure the vets can deny mil assignments and all that good stuff -- should be default.

basically, anything you think might limit older, developed players from saturating your minor leagues -- bet think it though... ramifications could be severe. use a backup... change things... test it for a decade or two and look in on it over time.... implement changes that work.
