Scouting director Draft decisions
I have always wondered why the scout auto-drafts players that are impossible to sign or have ridiculously high asking prices. Is there are a way to let the AI complete the later rounds of a draft without wasting picks on people that won't be signed, and in the scouts opinion will never reach the big leagues?
Marvin in the opinion of the scout is "Overall, a sub-par offensive player. If this guy is in your lineup, you should be scouring the waiver wire constantly looking for an upgrade". Yet he drafted him in the 18th round despite Marvin requesting 3.2 million to be signed. in total the scouting director wasted 5 picks on players like this. Other than manually drafting every round is there a way to have the AI not waste picks like this? |

I'm guessing the way things work is that the scout, being controlled by the AI, gives all players an invisible score that determines when they will get picked. Outrageous bonus demands simply give a hefty penalty to that score.
But eventually the pool is so utterly pruned of players with even the remotest glimpses of potential that the crappy player who was downgraded further because of his outrageous bonus demand will still have a higher score than all the super ultra extra crappy players. So eventually the AI scout director will go for him anyway. |

i don't think you can do it quickly, but you could avoid the duds my asking for a suggestion first, then approving it if it's not a multi-million dollar demand.
i don't play with that rule, but if there's 1/100 chance they sign, at some point that may be a viable risk comapred to likelyhood of some of those late round pick developing into something worthwhile. * obviously just picking a number to get a point across. |

Thank you, usually when these players are selected there are other options that the scout rates with similar or higher potential in this draft on a 20-80 scale one had a 44 potential the second was 32 and the others were 22. it still seems like the AI could be tweaked to not draft 'impossible' to sign players.
