Franchise Legends quickstart (150/players per each of the 30 teams)

Enjoy this league of 4500 players (150 per team) which allows for a functional minor league system of aaa,aa,high a, and a leagues.

Rosters where selected based of players with the most career plate appearances for a team while considering that each position needed to be filled. Pitchers were selected based on career games started, games relieved and years played per franchise. (if one is asking why isn't x on my team, it is most likely because a player is at the same position w more PA,GS,GR)

After players were selected, seasons are based off of the players best year for the particular franchise represented. (ex, Reggie Jackson Oak will be different than Reggie Jackson Yankee)

Enjoy and please place any feedback on the ootp forums as I plan to update yearly and would considered this 1st edition as a beta version. (I just purchased ootp a few months ago so learning the game) Any suggestions are welcome.

At start MLB Rosters have all Players and Pitchers,Commissioner Mode turned and turn if off the Team I Manage goes to another.,get personal messages from other Teams guys and I don't Manage those Teams. Also Trading doesn't happen intill after All-Star Game. Where's like Montreal and other former Teams? Some of this Year's Top Prospects.

Why in the world would this year's top prospects be in a franchise legends quickstart? You always ask for this in everything, and rarely is it appropriate.

Ok downloaded and taken a look at this.
First off, a huge effort to put this together and I want to acknoweldge that something like this takes time.

My main complaint on looking it over is that it states in the word doc that you have chosen basically the best year for each player. In some cases this turns out to be correct, say George Sisler or Barry Bonds.

But in so many others this turns out not to be the case- Ichiro is 2003, Ruth is 1923, Gehrig is 1926, Hornsby 1927, W Johnson 1909, Joe Mauer 2008, Mantle 1955
In many cases it seems like your pick was one year above or below they players true best season.

So that would be my suggestion as you look to the future. Decide what type of season you wish for each player then focus on that upload. Not a negative, lot of work went into this, simply a suggestion...

Some of the Top Prospects ace going to be Stars and we don't need them in all of Projects. Okay will try this Affliate this League with a 2016 one then I get to how Lucas G. the Nats Top Prospect cracks Nats starting rotation that also has Zimmerman and others from Franchise Nats Roster.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am glad that you like it. I thought it would be cool to have an all time league where say Ted Williams is struggling (ok, maybe not the most realistic example of one who would struggle) so you bring up Manny from triple A .

This is my first year doing this and I am new to the game so learning a lot of how to set things up.

For the prospect question, each year I plan to check the career PA, GS, GR, years played for active players and update so eventually those players who are considered prospects will at some point end up on a roster once they have enough appearances to pass a current member of the set.

With the best year, I noticed it was a bit goofy. I sorted by WAR from the fangraphs site and at times I thought the season with the best WAR was not actually the players best season. I think for next year, I will look at each player and pick subjectively but I guess that is why I would call this more of a beta than finished product. In other words, I agree with you on the best year comment as these may need tweaked player to player. Ideally,I would like to set all players to age 27 and have the stats/season based on the players career avg for time spent w each team but am not sure how to make a database of new player data.

A quick question, when scouting are the ratings based on what the player would have been rated going into a particular year. Ex, would 1923 Babe Ruth have been rated based on his 1923 season or what he would have been rated prior to 1923? (I attached the text file of the rosters w player season below-sorry for the odd team abbv but the some of the orig abbv where not syncing)

Lastly, over the next few days, I will be filling up the rosters for each level mlb, aaa,aa,high a,and a ball so that there is a backup at each position for each level. (this did not happen when I had the AI set things up but I want to have the option to sub for any player during a game) Once this is done, I will post an updated version.

Oh, and for the no trade question. I wanted the all time Yankees to remain Yankees forever and same w red sox, cardinals, ect. In other words, I do not want to computer to trade Mantle for Yaz as that would be odd to have Yaz as a Yank.

Thanks again for the replies as this will help me improve things along the way.

I noticed a couple errors setting up teams (prob should have waited before posting the quick start but was a bit excited) such as having the wrong Billy Williams on Chicago and a couple positions in the minor league levels needing backups.

Long story short, I plan to tweek these and upload an updated file sometime over the weekend.

If anyone notices other fixes, please let me know. I thought I was done but as it turns out, a few guys here and there need attention.

(already through 7/30 teams so will get there)

thanks

Nobody who is put on Wavier's gets claimed and that's good.
Salary Cap's are to low and for me to resign any of my people who want a Major League Contract have to be in Commissioner Mode to do it.
I like Trading but my A. GM should only Trade away guys of my 25 man if out of Race.
Also might start with controlling one Team or none.
Paulo Orlando,Whit Merrifield,Chestor Culbert or other breakout guys from this year? Jose A. Bautista on Royals to? Alex Gordon rating at 3B to?

thanks for the heads up on the salaries as I did not think of that and yes this will need adjusted.

For Alex Gordon, I was only able to import 1 individual season and it was a season that he only played outfield. I would love to be able to base the stats/ratings off of career totals as a whole for each team represented but I do not believe there is a way to import a group of years. If so, then Gordon would have fielding ratings for every position that he has played for KC which I would prefer but not complaining as this game allows for so much creativity.

Also, I will be reposting the quickstart this weekend as I found some fix-ups with the rosters. A few teams needed to add some position players so there would be backups at all the milb positions so I am doing some add/delete w the rosters.

Hang in there, I am through 19/30 teams so getting closer.

Thanks for the interest
