Does placing a player on the 60 day DL open a spot on the 40 man roster asit does in real life?

Yes, placing a player on the 60-day disabled list opens up a spot on your 40 man roster.

I'm not sure it opens a spot in the actual MLB...but it does in OOTP.

A player on the MLB 60-day DL in real life does not count against either the active list or the reserve (40-man) list. So effectively it opens up an additional roster spot.
