Game restarted and can't find saved games

I played the game yesterday and everything was fine. When I started OOTP17 today it started loading stuff as if it was reinstalling. The only message I remember is something about loading 'in game' help. After it finished doing all that and loaded the game, I selected Load Game and it can't find the saved game folder. It asks me to select a back up but I don't know where, or if, the back up folder is. I then tried starting a new historical game and when that loaded I tried to change to a saved game and got the attached error message. So then installed the last update to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't. I got the same result. I am not sure what is going on or if this is a bug or a system fault of some sort.

As a followup, after I re-installed the last update I looked at the main file for OOTP in the Programs(86) folder under OOTP/data/fonts and there was all the files that are are normally in the OOTP!7 folder in My Documents. I am now coping the files from My Documents over the files in the data/fonts folders to see if the game will run.

I did the above and now the game starts and finds the saved files. However, when I exit the game, I get another error saying the saved game file can't be found. It is attached below. What is going on?

I never could correct this. So I un-installed it and re-installed it and that fixed the problem. I hope this doesn't happen again.
