Upcoming FA Question

I'm seeking the answer to this before pulling the trigger on a trade. What's the cutoff date for FA compensation. I know that a player has to be on a team the entire season. But is that cutoff in OOTP before the first game of the league is played? Or before it rolls over to opening day? I plan on trying to extend the player anyway but would like a backup in case.

69(nice) people viewed but no one has an answer? No one from OOTP? Beta Team? Office of the Commish? Curt Drilling?

I believe it is before opening day, but don't quote me on that.

Since no one from OOTP bothered to answer this question and a crash causing me to lose an entire month of games caused me to never find out the answer, here is another one.

IRL, if a player holds out past the draft, the pick compensation goes away. Is the rule the same in OOTP or will it carry Til next year?

If a FA does not sign until after the draft, the compensation pick does go away.

i'd just look up MLB rules and compare to what happens in the game. there's no official answer, so beware of what you read in forums... they are right often, but also wrong often.

Right. I would like to know what happens in the game, not wait till it happens. That's precisely why I asked the question.

But Thanks!
