Game now slows down my PC
Now, since the new update, my computer (running Windows 7) has started slowing down periodically when I've got my league file open. It doesn't seem to matter what else I have open, but it does seem to get worse if I have a browser (either Chrome or Firefox) open. I can play music in the background and it's not affected, but it did cause problems with my voice chat software, which suffered from serious lag. It also doesn't seem to happen when I just leave the main screen open. None of this was occurring before installing the latest version, although I do wonder if it is related to a problem I'd previously posted (that the OOTP17 installer almost totally locks my computer up for half an hour while it runs, which it continues to do). I've run Malwarebytes just to be safe, but it found nothing.
I've just uploaded the zip file of my league, the name of which is "Oberon Base Disney.zip". Hopefully you can help me. ETA: A bit more info. This seems to happen most frequently when I'm working on the Free Agent list, which is admittedly large (about 45,000 players). On the other hand, the list itself has been decreasing in size, so earlier builds were working fine with even larger lists (about 60,000 at the time of the original release of v17). We haven't done any changes really that would affect performance of late. If you do leave the game open for a long time, that can cause things to slow down, so I'd recommend restarting your game periodically. Similar with occasionally restarting your computer.
But I'm not aware of anything in particular that would be a problem. When the game is processing it does take up resources, so could certainly affect other programs. |

After a fair amount of trial and error, I think the problem may be connected to a recent upgrade I made to the Logitech SetPoint driver software for my keyboard and mouse rather than OOTP. I'm still unsure of what the problem is, but uninstalling the software seems to have fixed the issue for the time being. Is it possible there's a compatibility issue?
The issue with the installer program locking up my PC remains outstanding as well. |
