Ever had a fringe player hit/pitch like a stud?

I was sent a trade offer for a 1B earlier in his career and I accepted it. The guy has hit like a god despite having mediocre ratings. I suspect it's a lot due to his ability to avoid strikeouts. I love guys that can perform despite ratings that suggest they would be mediocre. Anyone have any players like this?

I wouldn't say it was studly or even that great (wasn't even a full season) but this guy Dave Ketting for me had a great year, just kept getting hit after hit. Was hitting over .400 for a while, started to come back down to earth, and I imagine had he gotten 600 abs, he woulda come all the way back down.
