Bug with trading?
Unfortunately, I didn't save a screen shot of this bug. I'll try to describe it the best I can.
I received a notice that the New York Yankees put C Brian McCann on the trade block, and I was able to work out a trade for him. I decided to shop McCann around right away myself, and I received an offer for McCann from the New York Yankees, the time I had just acquired him from. I'm not entirely sure if this an actual "bug," or just a random goofy thing, or whatever, but it just seemed really odd to me that the team that had just tried to trade away a player immediately made an offer to get him back after completing a trade. |

Can you confirm you shopped McCann before the NY AI made a roster move? If so it makes more sense because they are down a catcher and McCann must be a better set of "values" than the piece offered now. If not it is still a value thing but less obvious. It'd be nice to know what you traded and what NY offered on the trade back. I'd bet that if you tried to trade the other two for each other it wouldn't fly. It's like playing "X degrees of separation".

I did shop McCann before closing out that day in the game. I traded a few decently rated relief pitching prospects for McCann, and none of those were offered back to me when I shopped him. The explanation here does make a lot of sense, and I figured as much. It just struck me as odd, is all. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk |

Yeah, it's sort of a bug, but sort of not. We could certainly add in a "this player was in your organization this year already so they won't try to trade back for him", but honestly that would just take up time on every trade offer to see if that was the case, to prevent this one case.

Similarly, as DJP noted above and as I responded to his original thread in the General Discussion forums, I had something equally bizarre take place with the Blue Jays.
As the Orioles in the 2017 off-season, I traded several prospects to the Blue Jays for Russell Martin. I simulated one day and immediately received a trade offer for Russell Martin...in return for several prospects (not the same prospects, fortunately). Several months later, just before the trade deadline, the Blue Jays again attempted to trade for Russell Martin. Then in the 2018 off-season, the Blue Jays yet again made an offer for Russell Martin. I've made dozens of trades and this is the only instance I've seen of this. But perhaps adding some logic to prevent teams from instantly attempting to trade back for a player they just traded away could be helpful. Last edited by sol_phenom; 04-26-2016 at 05:20 PM. |
