Draft glitch??

Just finisheded inaugural draft and in looking through my team I find a low minors pitcher that has this in his ACQUIRED line: Draft Pick (2016, Rd.1 - Ovr. Pk. 8671st).....Not only did I not draft this guy in the first round, but even if I DID, with only 30 teams there is no way he could have been the 8671st pick overall in the first round! This is just one example...there are a lot of cases like this...Seems like the round is always the problem..What am I doing wrong? Its driving me nuts! lol

Does it really say he was picked 8,671st or is it rather 7,681st?

It DOES say 7681...I stand corrected! But still...How is that possible in the first round??

corrupted data or some code lacking robustness.

glad i don't pay attention to when a player is drafted... ignorance is bliss. pretty sure normal drafts don't have that problem in '16... i'll learn soon about '17 once it's completed.

I suspect that the amount of memory allocated to store the number of the round is not big enough.

You say you have 30 teams. 30 teams picking for 256 rounds amounts to 7,680 picks, so the guy should be the first pick in the 257th round.

However 256 is also 2 to the power 8. If the number of the draft round is stored in a single byte, it overflows after 256 rounds and the 257th round is displayed as the first round.

That must be it...Thank you...The draft was actually 297 rounds long, so I guess it restarted with 257 and the first pick in the 297th round will actually show as a 40th round pick....Right?

41st, but pretty much right.

No idea what 256th round draftees display as, though. Are they 0 or 256?

Yeah, I can "see" things in numbers, patterns and such. With 30 teams, 8,671 doesn't make any sense, but 7,681 does fit amazingly to the problem - and I know NOTHING about computers, but tons of random crap like the Pacman thing - at hand. So Daniel up there must have had a typo in the first post. I knew that. It couldn't be any other logical way.
