Goofy injury

Last HR this guy hit was two months ago and we didn't even have a game on 6/30.

Delayed injury diagnosis?

He was practicing his clutch play celebration.

Some microfracture from that, which first was thought to be nothing consequential, but after 2 months was rediagnosed as more serious, requiring surgery?

If there is a story that on first sign does not make sense, I try to somehow make it work in my head. Probably it is a bit buggy though, yet such bugs happen so rarely that you can always come up with a plausible story to keep up the immersion.

In real life, you get sometimes strange stories aswell. Red Sox starter Steven Wright now went on the DL, for an injury suffered quite a time ago where he already served one DL stint. His injury happened while running the bases, which is something AL pitchers aren't known for, especially not as pinch-runners.

So in OOTP terms, you might get an email saying that your starting pitcher went down for an injury, which happened while he was running the bases.
You're going "WTF? He is an starter for an AL team! His only interleague start was a month ago, and he struck out thrice and lined out once, so never even reached base to be baserunning! Fix that bug!"

...yet that is exactly what happened.

Yeah... I do the same.. just thought it was odd. Would be neat if the story hinted to something small that turned into a full blown injury.

That's an injury generated by a storyline. The problem is that the storyline can be triggered even though the injured player didn't hit a home run - in fact, there is no such trigger, so I'm not entirely sure why that storyline is included in the game. You just have to imagine that your player hit a home run during batting practice and got a little carried away in his excitement.
