Right now, I think the biggest flaw in regards to the reserve clause comes when players reach the end of their careers. Since contracts automatically renew, some players simply refuse to retire. Problem is, they often stay on the big league roster as well. So, you get a Miguel Cabrera playing 1-5 games a season for 5 or more years. Because of this, I use free agency instead of the reserve clause, but set the years required for free agency to 15 years.
