Any Way to Educate the AI on Lineup and Pitching Choices?
I apologize for posting this, because I'm certain it's been addressed elsewhere, perhaps numerous times, but I can't find a thread for it.
I've started playing OOTP 16 in the 1930s and have noticed with increasing frustration that the computer managers for the other teams make too many absurd roster selections.
For example, for the recently completed 1932 season, one team relegated Ted Lyons, who, among qualified MLB starters, finished 12th in ERA to the reserve list, while starting Ray Phelps, who finished with a 5.90 e.r.a. in only 79 innings. Lon Warneke, who led all MLB pitchers in ERA that season, was a set-up man on his team, while Roy Mahaffey with his 5.09 e.r.a. that season, was the number two starter. It seems each team presented at least one similarly inexplicable choice. I saw a few questionable lineup choices, too, but the pitching choices were far more numerous and egregious.
Short of manually making these decisions for each team, something I'm loath to do, are there any settings that will make the AI smarter and it's choices more realistic? If there's a thread that provides an answer, can you point me to it. Thanks!
