difficulty levels for manager mode?

what exactly does changing difficulty levels do? does it actually make it harder for your team to win (simply by making other teams better, and your team worse)? Does it make it more difficult to make trades, sign free agents, etc.? Or does it just make it easier to get fired?

Easier to get fired, which puts more pressure on.
