Input Requested For Dynasty Concept

Hi,

I'm going to create a OOTP16 dynasty (or potential online league, though it's highly doubtful). The concept is eight separate leagues, all ML-level (as I can use the reputation levels in the game, as well as make all playoff stats equal); there are two national level leagues (one utilizing the old MLB setup, mostly, and one utilizing a Midwest/Pacific alignment). The other six leagues, each of decreasing reputation, set in various regions throughout the country.

Southwest
New England/Mid-Atlantic
Great Lakes/Upper Plains
Northwest
Southwest/Dust Bowl
Appalachian/Cape Cod

The winners of each of those leagues would participate in a Tournament of Champions, in order to claim one national champion each season. Also, instead of spring training, there will be a national tournament, involving all teams (I'm considering doing this throughout the season, too, so that the national champion is crowned right before the Tournament of Champions).

Another twist, one I arrived at this afternoon, requires your input. I want to put each of these leagues into different, consistent eras. They'll all be running in one universe...but I'd have each league fixed at a different point in history, each with different settings, the way they use rosters, how offensive leagues are, how pitching-minded they are, etc. I am considering having the two top leagues move through history, but the other six leagues remain fixed.

The trouble here is...I'm not sure which seasons I should use. I will obviously go for different eras. But as far as specific seasons...I'm not certain.

What say you? What is your input? I love to have my dynasties have a logical background, but enough of a twist to open up creativity.

I will also post my city alignments, so that you can look it over and tell me if you think something should be different.

Thank you for reading...I'm quite interested in what is to come, as this is a five-year idea (at least) that I'm finally making a breakthrough on.

City Alignment: The dynasty setup is attached.

Note: These will all have old fashioned or soccer-style names. Unsure as of now. But I very much prefer an old time feel.

Quite an interesting setup which will take a lot of work to setup and manage through the different eras, especially with 2 divisions (leagues?) moving ahead in time while the othere's 6 remain fixed in time. I don't have any suggestions but will follow along if you are going to post this dynasty. Good luck!

To clarify, the two bigger leagues will move through the eras and change as history moved through. The Dead Ball Era will become the lively ball era, and so on.

The other six leagues, I will simply pick a year, import that year's settings, and keep those the settings for the league's history.

I haven't written in these parts in a long time, but there are a bunch of old heads (Big Six, DreamTeams) that know me well, and know that I usually undertake big projects. I've been planning this one for years. It's probably still a month off from coming to fruition...but there is progress, at least.

My only suggestion for such a big universe is to start small and granularly and then grow it over time rather than trying manage all of that from the outset. Having done this a lot, I can say that you send SOOOO much time with setup that it's almost not fun and it's more enjoyable to ease into it, even if it's incremental and plus the story makes more sense.

In real life, baseball operated the same way, Growth over time.

Good luck, love the concept.

Already there. I've done this many times as well, and know full well how tedious setup will be. This will definitely be gradual.

dola--

To add to this, I plan on there being an original six (Northeast-based) starting around 1880, and then things growing a bit from there, gradually, over fifty years. It will take shape much in the same form as our historical layout, though with some changes (the big one being that all leagues will be considered major leagues, but that's semantics and just an engine workaround).

The original six will have their own derby of sorts (since they won't all end up in the same league over the long haul), and there may be other smaller tournaments along the way, to add some rivalry among teams close in proximity). The possibilities with this are pretty endless. Except with graphics. Good Lord, I'm bad at the graphics.

It has the potential to be a fantastic story, but that is a ways away. Just getting to this point has taken a long time, as I've never truly been happy with the setup. This is the first time I actually feel close to starting this project.

Sorry I misread or misunderstood the league setup. Still an enormous project that I look forward following; Good Luck.
