I salute Markus on Manager Mode.

I have to say that I am extremely happy with OOTP5. Sure it has bugs....but they are tolerable until we get some patches. What I think is neat is Manager Mode. I mean I know people aren't going to like it and people are going to say that they wish Markus would have just focused on the Baseball...but I am really happy to see him take a chance and put something completely new in the game.

In this day and age all we get year after year (from EA Sports,3D0,Acclaim,and SEGA......and not to mention Baseball Mogul...God......could Clay drag that out anymore than he has without adding anything new?) is the same recycled games with new graphics and little tweaks. No one EVER takes chances on features anymore...and the fact that Markus put this in the game, even if it is at the very beginning of its potential,I think deserves to be appreciated.

I think there is only room to improve on this very cool feature.

So cheers Markus....thanks for taking a chance and putting something...**gasp** NEW into a game....seems like you're the only developer who is willing to take a chance these days.

I totally agree about manager mode- it is an excellent and very fresh feature.

Now if I could only edit my info to reflect my real-life wife's name- I kind of feel like I am cheating with the "other woman" listed in my manager profile.

I just hope my real wife doesn't find out and click the "Divorce!" button on me!!!

I am in agreement. That was one of my main problems with earlier versions of the game -- you stayed with the same team forever, no matter how well or how poorly you were doing as GM/manager. This is fresh and a great feature.

I totally agree. I was very hesitant at first, but now having played it a bit I LOVE it! Feels like you're a real GM instead of the man controling the GM.

After simming my first season, I was able to get a 1 yr extension without getting fired , then got married and she got pregnant.

But, we still can't trade draft picks?

I agree, enjoying the Manager mode. One way I see it could evolve:

You have ratings just like a player with a numeric value:

Handles youngsters (hastens there development)
Handles Veterans (delays there performance drop)
Hitting Coach skill (keeps hitters at peak performance)
Pitching Coach skill (keeps pitchers at peak performance)
Negotiations skill (increases chance player will sign for less)
Clubhouse Chemistry skill (not sure)
Personal Life Skill (increases chance wife stays happy)
Media Relations skill (keeps owner happier, less chance getting fired if fall short of his goals)

As your reputation grows, you gain points to distribute into the various skills during spring training. Reputation falls, you lose skillpoints. And even with the max possible reputation, you still can only "max" out say 3 skills, so you have to choose which ones to put the points into.

Actually think I'll start a new thread with Manager Mode Evolution ideas.

I'm starting right off the bat on the hardest level for manager mode. It was too easy to goto the World Series with teams like Montreal and Tampa Bay after a few years of building. We'll see just how much harder v5 is.

I'm glad I'm not alone in really being happy with Manager Mode.

I still think that you should be able to edit things though. I mean sometimes I need to edit some things that are weird and I simply can't because I am using the Manager mode.

I'm sure this can be fixed with a patch though. You should AT LEAST have the option to turn a lock on or off for it...

I agree about editing wife's name. We're able to edit everything else. It's bad enough that I'm playing this wonderful game at all hours, but to be married to a fictional someone else is really pushing it.

I really like the manager mode too, and join with Queensryche in saying thanks for adding the evolutionary feature.

It's because you spend too much time on this game that......

1. your real wife calls her lawyer
2. your real mistress calls your real wife
3. you're too young to get married in real life

and the top answer

4. you'll never meet anyone this way.
