Deleted Players Question - are they still in the database?

Cy Young never made it into my league. Now Tris Speaker and Walter Johnson haven't. I have checked the draft pool for years around their MLB debut and I don't see them.

I have 'Delete those who never reach the Majors' checked.

I draft 5 rounds each season and let the rest go to free agent pool or wait to be drafted the next season.

Young, Speaker and Johnson never appeared in free agent pool either?

Is it possible they didn't get drafted because of low initial ratings and 'retired'?

Are deleted players still in the database but marked delete? How do I find out if this is what happened to them?

Something is amiss???

Something is amiss???

in master.csv

Cy Young, Walter Johnson and Tris Speakers' (there are probably a lot more)

record looks 'different' - more than one 'ID'.

I checked the exported players database - these players never made it into my game.

I am very disappointed now. I am up to 1908 and I have to stop and figure this out.

What year did you start? I assume this is not a random debut league? Are you using the default database?

Cy Young should have debuted in 1890, Speaker and Johnson in 1907. Look at the "List all MLB Players" function and check "include retired players"... are they in the list?

We did look into this and the problem looked like a mix of factors - if the draft and draft pool happens right around the league preseason start, and there's still a lot of draft eligible players hanging around, it's possible that some years we would end up skipping the draft import in historical leagues.

We'll fix for next year, but if anyone runs a historical sim, just make sure your draft pool reveal date is well after the preseason start date and there should be no problems.

I seem to remember Markus posting something in the past telling us it's best not to fool with the default November draft date for historical leagues.

I have found i can push the date back to december 30 and all is fine. But if you try to make it the following year it gets goofy, hence free agent historical years cant work right as the date is too early for free agent compensation drafts pick changes.

Oh well
