The Keystone Baseball League - A Solo Draft Project (Non-OOTP)
![]() THE KEYSTONE BASEBALL LEAGUE - A SOLO DRAFT PROJECT (NON-OOTP) Hey guys, after asking around a little bit and making sure I would be allowed to post this thread, I have decided to announce my first "dynasty" project on these forums, but it is not OOTP. It will be using the basic C&D version of a different baseball game. If anyone is curious, feel free to send me a personal message, I will keep the name out just in case it leads to problems down the road. The following will be what the project is all about: "The Keystone Baseball League - A Solo Draft Project" is a six-team league based in the Keystone State; Pennsylvania. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and have lived here for all my life (20 years to be exact). I thought it would be cool to create a fictional league based in the state I live in using players from the Hall of Fame, well-known players on the verge of being in the Hall, and some of the best Negro Leaguers of all time. Each team in the league is from a city, town, or general area in Pennsylvania and I have decided to start out with an Original Six as you might say and then as the league forms its own history, possibly expand, maybe even double in size after so many seasons. Every team taking part in the KBL (I will often abbreviate the Keystone Baseball League with that acronym) will play the other five teams in the league four times (2 home, 2 away) for a total of 20 ballgames. I wanted to keep this project short and sweet, as I want to form a league history pretty quickly. Here are some particulars: Rosters will be fairly small because of the super-short 20-game season. Each team will roster 15 total players. (9 pisition players and six pitchers). Because of the short rosters, I will allow each starting batter to play every game. You will see why I do this below. Also, there will be a DH and no injuries. There will be four starters, a long man, and a closer. All six teams will make the playoffs after the end of the season with the top two teams receiving first-round byes. The first round will be a do-or-die game like the wildcard game is in the Major leagues today (I really like it, I may be in the minority but it puts more on winning in the regular season). The Semi-finals will be a best-off three, and then the Keystone Series will also be a best-of-three with the winner taking home the Keystone Cup. So how exactly will this be a solo draft project? Easy. The six original franchises will draft 15 players (9 position players and six pitchers) to start. Then after each season there will be an injury draft. When players are injured during the course of the season they will not be removed from the game, however, their name will be written down on the injury sheet. After the season is over, teams will look at their injury chart and select who they will send into the draft. Each team will send three players into the draft (two position players and one pitcher). This system mimics me having to decide on trades and contracts and really lets the players play and see where they end up. Now let's say Team A has just one position player get hurt, that player must go into the draft, but they can select what other player gets to go into the draft. So say you have a weaker hitter, you'd want to send him because you can try getting someone better in the draft. If anyone following needs me to explain this any better I will try my best to. After the season is over the injury draft will be held, with the last place team picking first and the Keystone Cup winner selecting last. This should shake the teams up a little bit, but not too much as each team will still have their starting foundation. But as the years go on in this fantasy universe, it will be cool to watch leaders, record books, and franchise histories be born. Here are the six teams competing (to start at least) in the Keystone Baseball League: York White Roses Lancaster Red Roses Scranton Electrics Harrisburg Senators Allentown Fleetwings Bethlehem Steelers PREVIOUS RESULTS Season 1 - York defeats Allentown 2-1 Season 2 - Bethlehem defeats Lancaster 2-1 I will be releasing the Season 3 rosters in the coming posts and then open playing Season 3 tomorrow. Hope you guys enjoy following along even though this is a non-OOTP dynasty. Special thanks to Knuckler for the outstanding logos. |

Keystone Baseball League Season Three Preview
Keystone Baseball League Season Three Preview
![]() ALLENTOWN FLEETWINGS PITCHERS: Wilbur Cooper, Ed Walsh, Dick Redding, Steve Carlton, Bob Gibson, Eddie Plank. CATCHER: Mike Piazza. INFIELDERS: Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, George Brett, Pop Lloyd. OUTFIELDERS: Ty Cobb, Jim Rice, Ken Griffey Jr, Sammy Sosa. FLEETWINGS OUTLOOK: The Allentown Fleetwings were not able to make it back to the Keystone Series, as they had in Season One, and they also have a way weaker team than they did in the previous two seasons. Hopefully the stronger pitching staff can help make up for their weakened offensive attack. ![]() BETHLEHEM STEELERS PITCHERS: Babe Ruth, Christy Mathewson, Gaylord Perry, Tim Keefe, Leroy Matlock, Chief Bender. CATCHER: Roy Campanella. INFIELDERS: Mark McGwire, Jud Wilson, Eddie Mathews, George Davis. OUTFIELDERS: Larry Walker, Turkey Stearnes, Babe Ruth, Al Simmons. STEELERS OUTLOOK: After winning the Season 2 Keystone Baseball League Title, otherwise known as the "Keystone Cup" the Bethlehem Steelers are back and better than ever. They added Jud Wilson to replace Joe Morgan via the injury draft and then got back their solid outfielder in Al Simmons. Watch out fans, the Steelers just might repeat. ![]() HARRISBURG SENATORS PITCHERS: Sandy Koufax, Big Bill Foster, Babe Adams, Nolan Ryan, Addie Joss, Max Manning. CATCHER: Johnny Bench. INFIELDERS: Jimmie Foxx, Charlie Gehringer, Harmon Killebrew, Martin DiHigo. OUTFIELDERS: Ralph Kiner, Duke Snider, Mel Ott, Willie Stargell. SENATORS OUTLOOK: The Senators were just an out away from upsetting Allentown and moving onto the Keystone Division Series, but it was not meant to be. After a poor start to the season last season, Harrisburg won four straight games to end the season before getting knocked out of the playoffs. By adding their star center fielder Duke Snider and picking up second baseman Charlie Gehringer, the Senators hope it will be enough to make a solid run at a title. ![]() LANCASTER RED ROSES PITCHERS: Hilton Smith, Three Finger Brown, Pete Alexander, Roger Clemens, Jim Palmer, Nip Winters. CATCHER: Biz Mackey. INFIELDERS: Mule Suttles, Frank Thomas, Joe Morgan, Mike Schmidt, Willie Wells. OUTFIELDERS: Carl Yastrzemski, Oscar Charleston, Hank Aaron. RED ROSES OUTLOOK: The Lancaster Red Roses are the favorites for next season (Season 3). Lancaster picked up Joe Morgan while ridding themselves of the awful Jeff Kent, who did not bat over .200 in two seasons in the KBL. The Red Roses also got back their power-hitting first baseman Mule Suttles, as he lasted until the 5th overall pick in the draft surprisingly. Had Lancaster not gotten him, I don't think they are the pre-season favorites. ![]() SCRANTON ELECTRICS PITCHERS: Greg Maddux, Satchel Paige, Rube Waddell, Ray Brown, Old Hoss Radbourn, Tom Seaver. CATCHER: Oscar "Heavy" Johnson. INFIELDERS: Jeff Bagwell, Nap Lajoie, John Beckwith, Ernie Banks. OUTFIELDERS: Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Frank Robinson, Shoeless Joe Jackson. ELECTRICS OUTLOOK: Scranton made giant moves in the Injury Draft after being upset by the Lancaster Red Roses in the playoffs this past season. Already boasting the top offense in the league, they added Oscar "Heavy" Johnson and Shoeless Joe Jackson to replace Mickey Cochrane and Buck Ewing, two pieces that were holding the offense back for the most part. Scranton could return to power and earn their second straight Commonwealth Cup trophy. ![]() YORK WHITE ROSES PITCHERS: Walter Johnson, Juan Marichal, Slim Jones, Vida Blue, Smokey Joe Wiliams, Cy Young. CATCHER: Josh Gibson. INFIELDERS: Hank Greenberg, Ryne Sandberg, Ron Santo, Honus Wagner. OUTFIELDERS: Albert Belle, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Chino Smith. WHITE ROSES OUTLOOK: After winning the Season One Title, the White Roses fell off a bit, as they were eliminated in the Wildcard Game to their bitter rivals; the Lancaster Red Roses. Interestingly enough, both the Red and White Roses are the favorites this coming season. That is no surprise, York picked up Cy Young, Ted Williams, and retained the rights to their star shortstop Honus Wagner for season three...it could be a big year for them as they could be the first with two titles. SEASON TWO PREDICTED FINISH

So, do players age/retire and new ones join, or are the same 90 players (15 x 6 teams) being recycled over and over?

The first 90 players that were drafted aren't necessarily the only ones used though, as the past two drafts have shown some teams go into the free agent pool and get other players that weren't in those original 90. Some notable players still available in free agency are Roberto Clemente, Joe DiMaggio, Roger Maris, etc. Some players will be used over and over, but after playing two seasons I have noticed that players' stats can be drastically different. Negro League great Oscar Charleston batted in the low .200's in the first season only to come back in season two and set a new league record in batting average at .432. So yes some players are being used over and over, but there is parity in it as well. Thanks for the question and for following. |

Opening Day - Allentown vs. Scranton
Is there an easy way to post without using coding and HTML? I am having trouble formatting the way I want the replay to look, so I just posted it in Microsoft Word and took a snapshot of it. Here is the opening series between the Allentown Fleetwings and Scranton Electrics:
