Rule 5 Draft
Am I missing something? Shouldn't these guys be ineligible for the draft?

Guess I'll post it in the bugs section.

By default a major league "year" is 172 days. These 2 guys have 3 years and 188 days service time which is actually 4 years 16 days. SO they are eligible for the Rule 5 draft.

I believe it is 4 years (signed prior to 19), 3 if signed after they are 19 (I think, found 2 conflicting sources so far)
edit: OK, I think you are right. Signed before 19 should be 5 years.....I think

The rule changed a few years back, adding an extra year. This may just be OOTP using the old rule.

Could this be an effect of league evolution?

I have league evolution turned on but deselected all the rule changes so that only more/less hitting or pitching, expansion, team relocation & team nickname changes are allowed to "evolve". I also haven't seen an announcement in the offseason notifying me of any change in the rules for the rule 5 draft.
Also I just looked at the league evolution settings and there is no option for the rule 5 draft so either it can't evolve or it is a part of the evolution that can't be deselected and when it does change doesn't give a notice to the GM in the offseason. So I guess it is possible but would probably still be considered a bug or something to fix? |

I think OOTP is still using the old rules. I'm not close to the rule V but when I get there I will check.

Rule 5 works exactly as it should in my leagues and has worked correctly in all or maybe all but one version of OOTP since v5. I wonder why certain posters always seem to get the leagues where something that always works suddenly doesn't.

i notice this happens when i sign a free agent minor leaguer that i created - they get 3 years. not sure which of those designations are the important one, but it is consistent behaviour.
were these created fictional players? were they free agent minor leaguers you signed off the heap? Last edited by NoOne; 06-30-2015 at 10:41 PM. |

Asking questions is trolling? Methinks you are too sensitive. Is this the same league with all the AI problems?

And yes, I am a bit sensitive on these forums after so many people accusing me of basically the above with several veterans blocking me as if I'm some "9/11 truther" or something. Last edited by Dyzalot; 07-01-2015 at 12:24 AM. |
