Why can't I control my catchers in double headers?

So I've noticed that when I'm playing a double header (I sim the games), the AI automatically uses the 2nd catcher in the 2nd game of a double header. Why do I not have a choice about this?

I know it is "realistic" that in MLB games these days this is what managers do, but why should I have to if I don't want to?

Is there a workaround for this that anyone knows of? I tried checking the "force start" box on the player strategy screen but that did not help. My next move will be to demote all other catchers to the minor leagues for a day leaving me with only 1, just to see if that works.

they don't even let catchers finish extend extra innings games in real life. he will be quite tired with 2 games in one day.

if you got a day off, that's no problem. otherwise, the fatigue that would normally take 6 consecutive days played will occur and be more pronounced in 1 day i bet.

the only way i know of is to start the game yourself, set the lineups, then sim the rest of the game, but that isn't helpful if you are simming more than a day at a time. i did that in ootp '15 if one of my top starters was being subbed out of the last 2-3 games. i'd have to manually do the last couple days.

I'll try the manage, then sim the game workaround and see what happens. I'm fully aware that in reality it might be a questionable strategy, but you should be able to manage your team your way. I suppose another workaround would be to just change the weather for each city so it never rains and games aren't rained out and rescheduled as double headers.

(And BTW, I did have the next day off, which added to the frustration, along with the fact my backup catcher blows compared to the starting one, who is quite good.)

yeah, the fatigue thing was the biggie. he could potentially miss more games by playing the double header. just like timing his days off and when it's advantageous to play that one extra day of "tired" etc etc...
