Young pitchers and high innings

Just wondering if there's anything in the game engine in relation to monitoring young pitcher's workloads and making sure the don't throw high innings in a season or have too big a jump year to year. Also wondering if high pitch counts matter after the fact. I know there's been some evidence that a high pitch count can have a carry over effect to the next start.

I have a young stud pitching prospect that I'm babying but am wondering if i dont need to

You can set pitch counts for any pitcher. I do not know for a fact that innings affect development, but I assume that injuries occur as pitchers tire. That may not be true, but I pretend it is.

i don't think that there is. You can set the season length to 200 games and you're not going to see a higher injury rate

the only thing in the game i have noticed it having an affect is fatigue recovery for starters - there's a specific pitch count based on stamina when this will happen. i can't remember if it is right when they are tired or 5-10 pitches in etc..

they won't recover to 100% by their next start. that is with 5man modern rotation and low pitcher stamina (or whatever is default).

The manual suggests that "pitcher abuse points" and pitch counts influence the chance of injury, and that the AI responds accordingly by pulling starters earlier at lower minor league levels.

Why doesn't the game show PAPs? I guess they are tracked in the background / invisible to even those in commish mode.

I enjoyed that article. It was interesting to read about Kerry Wood's durability concerns

My fictional league is just finishing up 1908. So my advice is to pitch 'em until their arms fall off, then sew 'em back on and make 'em pitch some more! Man up, ya pansies!
