Question about personality
Are players personalities static or dynamic. How much will they evolve and shift/change over time? As an example, I have one player who's personality says "he puts in long hours". Is it possible for that to change, like maybe after he signs a big FA deal?

I would be really interested to know this too. Could it be possible that a high work ethic guy could turn into a team leader, or vice versa, ect.

I have never seen a player's personality change, no. Although, without having studied it, that assessment is based only on empirical evidence. [In other words, I simply may have never noticed . . .]
I may do a small study.

The question is should it change? I say yes. Now i'm not saying a clubhouse cancer should convert to Mother Teresa. But is a guy a clubhouse cancer everywhere? In a different sport, take Mark Aguire. A cancer for the Dallas Mavericks and yet an instrumental piece for the Pistons in the late 80's. Conversely, is a guy a leader in every clubhouse or just some? |

Somebody named J.R. Smith, late of the NY Knicks and notorious shoe lace untie-er (among other stupid and lazy habits) comes to mind. I harbor some animosity toward him now that he is a model citizen (and productive ballplayer) with the Cleveland Cavs. LeBron must have kicked his a** the first day he showed up. ![]() EDIT: Actually, the game probably is doing that already behind the scenes but the personality rating of the clown in question does not change. So if he goes elsewhere, where there is no "VERY HIGH" leadership, his destructive ways resume.

Agree that it is probably happening behind the curtain. One thing that might be interesting for the future is to be able to ask for feedback around how said player is showing up. Currently I can request a scouting report on any player at any time. How about if I could do something similar via my bench coach?

From what I have seen, some of the players attributes will change over time, however not dramatically. For example, leadership may move from Normal to High over time, while Work Ethic may decrease from Low to Very Low. I've never seen dramatic changes though.

I've never seen it change, that I can think of, and I watch player personalities pretty close. I'll look into it even more now.

Player personalities do change over time, but it tends to be gradual, so you likely won't notice too much.

This is intriguing. I am definitely keeping an eye out for this. I might track players on a spreadsheet and see what happens over time.
