2015 St. Louis Cardinals
As spring training is coming to an end.. John Mozeliak and Mike Matheny look at the makeup of the current edition of the St. Louis Cardinals.
They have decided to place Peter Bourjos, John Lackey and a couple others on the open market and see what is out there for them. Normally, I'm not a big believer in wholesale changes right away, but with a temporarily healthy Jaime Garcia and young Marco Gonzalez, John Lackey has no place really. As far as Bourjos, I'm committed to Jon Jay in CF. Randall Grichuk is my fourth OF'er and if I decide to carry a 5th, I'd look for a more impact bat and some better versatility. I'll also look to move Carlos Villaneuva at least because I've got a backlog of relievers ready to come up. |

Villanueva cleared waivers and was released after A: no one willing to trade even a one star minor leaguer for him and B: refusing assignment to Memphis

Game one in the books, was a 2-1 pitcher's duel with the Cubs leading. Lester was unhittable. Then Maddon took Lester out after 6 and Wainwright gets hurt in the top of the 7th. Cubs end up winning 5-4.

Game Two was a good old fashioned Wrigley scorefest. Cards hold on for a 15-6 win. Wacha was hit hard, giving up 9 hits and all 6 runs in 6 IP. But escaped with a win.
