Lied about age

Anyone seen this storyline yet? I'm curious on where it's going...

In real life, a player was suspended for a year and the team lost their rights to him for such an infraction.

I had this in 15. Didn't go anywhere after that news item, and just lowered his popularity a bit, iirc.

There was a rash of this a while back, I want to say 2003 or so, and a lot of the players involved were Dominican; such as Deivi Cruz who at the time was believed to be 26 years, turned out to be closer to 30. This was also about the same time that little league team had a 16 year old playing for them.

On the other end of the spectrum Adrian Beltre lied about his age
(apparently he was only 16 when he signed, which is a year too young) negating his original contract with the Dodgers and effectively making him an unrestricted free agent early in his life. Beltre got a huge payday, and never had any consequences; I'm surprised more players didn't try this.

They have. Teams do a lot more checking now.

How could a DNA test tell you someone's age anyway? Is that actually possible?

A new saliva test developed by geneticists at the University of California, Los Angeles, reveals a person's age within five years, a finding that could have many applications in medicine, at crime scenes, and more.

"With just a saliva sample, we can accurately predict a person's age without knowing anything else about them," says principal investigator Dr. Eric Vilain, a professor of human genetics, pediatrics and urology, in a UCLA news release.

I think it is consistent with the story though since it says a "new and controversial DNA test suggests that he is older..."

Infractions: 0/1 (3)
The Cuban government has no plans to hand over documentation of the player's age? What an over-site to not program future diplomatic relations with Cuba in to the game engine!

Probably HOFer Vladimir Guerrero also is a year older than originally thought...

This happens in my leagues quite often too, mostly with American players (of course, that's because most players are American)
