Unbelievable...
Setting the stage;
Playing the 1948 Indians and make it to the World Series. Leading against the Giants, 2 games to 1. Obtained Newhouser in '47 and he finishes '48 with a 28-8 record. Then this just before Game #4.... Newhouser Injured Trying to Unjam Garage Door: Cleveland starting pitcher Hal Newhouser will be out of service for approximately 2 weeks after suffering a bruised wrist. The injury occurred as Newhouser was reportedly attempting to unjam his garage door. X-rays showed no signs of breakage, but according to team medical staff, there is a significant bone bruise. When reached for comment, Newhouser simply replied, "It was just a matter of carelessness on my part. I'm going to rest it for now and I should be back in action in a couple of weeks." (hits head on keyboard) |
