Expansion Teams

Is your plan to start as an expansion team?

Curious how every chooses to start up their brand new team, city they pick and in general, what is your strategy to build up your franchise into a contender.

I might do a montreal expos reboot expansion or do a team in portland

I always scour the mods forum and find some great unis/logos by those wonderful people and select my expansion teams & minors by what I find

I like teams with names that will look interesting in the standings. Last time I expanded, it was to:

Zzyzx in California

and

1770 in Australia

Possibly not very realistic, though.

I always expand and play the Portland Pioneers. Never been to Portland, don't know why, but that's what I do. As the versions have improved it's gotten much harder to get good quickly building w/ young players.

My favorite expansion city is Las Vegas. Tex? made some great uniforms for them as the Aces. Mark Cuban is the owner and they play in MGM Stadium, a retractable roof field with a huge CF.

I never play as an expansion but i always expand to 32 teams after my first season. I typically go with Las Vegas and San Antonio. I then go to 4 4team divisions in each league. i love the AL South having 3 Texas teams, great for rivalries.

I almost always put a team in Charlotte and have gone with Montreal, Las Vegas or Dallas as the 2nd team.

Not that ya care but it reminded me... I like to create "myself" as a player so I play outfield for the Pirates... I made my manager:

Reason being if you wiki the Pirates he has ties so he decided to give up acting and pursue managing baseball!

I've always started an MLB game as an Expansion GM. Just something I've done since I started playing dating back to OOTP11.
