division alignment
Hey everyone, I have a question about division alignment. I want to have 4 divisions, 7 teams each, smaller cities within the U.S. I broke it down originally into 4 population categories. However, it is not East and West, so there would technically be a ton of travel for all of the teams.
Any idea if that affects how teams play or injuries at all? Maybe stiffness, I don't know how deep the injury effect is, lol. And if I need to make it by region, would a huge difference in population skew the results and make some teams too good? Here are the divisions by region, with populations: Worcester, MA Nanooks 182,544 Providence, RI Clam Diggers 178,042 Hartford, CT Yard Goats 124,893 Passaic, NJ Ironheads 71,509 Newark, DE Dudes 31,618 Conshohocken, PA Voltage 7,883 Cooperstown, NY Rounders 1,834 Orlando, FL Fireballs 255,483 Waukegan, IL Pickles 89,078 Alpharetta, GA Thrashers 63,083 Chapel Hill, NC Enforcers 57,233 Morgantown, VA Ghostriders 29,660 Natchez, MS Biscuits 15,513 French Lick, IN Cobras 1,807 Tulsa, OK Oilers 391,906 Wichita, KS Swag 354,865 Des Moines, IA Juggernauts 203,433 Watertown, SD Urchins 22,057 Adrian, MI Apocalypse 20,842 Hibbing, MN Havoc 16,302 Hidalgo, TX Killer Bees 13,273 San Tan, AZ Hooligans (WC) 81,321 Pahrump, NV Quicksilvers 35,821 Blackfoot, ID Mashers 11,899 Aspen, CO Xtreme 6,805 Unalaska, AK Wolves 4,319 Eureka, MT Lunatics 1,105 Zzyzx, CA Zenith 735 Last edited by fishpole33; 12-09-2015 at 11:22 AM. |

Travel has nothing to do with injuries. The market sizes can be adjusted, they don't necessarily have a basis in reality once the game gets simming. So you can do what you want, for the most part. Or simulate it on your own. I made a tool for that a few years ago.
Sidenote: You have some GREAT nicknames for your teams. |

In OOTP cities are purely a cosmetic thing. populations have no effect on the financial strength of a team. This is done with the market size and fan loyalty settings which are independent of the actually home city. Further more i do not believe travel distance has any effect on player fatigue and injuries because actual city locations are mostly a cosmetic thing in the game. For example if you really wanted to the Yankees could play in Barrow, Alaska with no ill effects on finances or travel. They could even draw 50k/game there too.

traveling has no effects whatsoever. i had it happen that a game got rescheduled so during my roadtrip i played 3 days in New York, the very next day the AI scheduled a doubleheader in Atanta, only 1 of the games was a homegame for me...in Los Angeles

Are these boys or men? A trans continental flight should not phase these men! Marcus needs to add the MLBPA to game to set the schedule!

Thanks very much, I actually had a few co-workers help me choose the names. I found a site with all mascots listed, whether it be high school, college or any old or new pro team, and i sent everyone a list to pick from, high vote wins.
The cities I got from various sites, seeing if any region was specific to pickles, biscuits, bees, etc. Only the Hartford Yard Goats are a real team, but the name is just too awesome to not have in my league. I would quote everyone if I knew how, thanks for the quick help! |

Two suggestions:
First, move the Passiac Ironhounds to Newark, which has a neighborhood known as the Ironbound section. Second, the Ghostriders really have to play in the Sky Division.

How i interrupt Market Size the size of a teams fanbase. This number is used when the game decides media contracts in modern era games. In historical games it is used to figure out how many people may attend that teams games. It is important to note that the Market Size number has no relation to where a teams city is set to. It is a completely independent modifier that is randomly generated when the league creates new teams.

If San Antonio and Las Vegas are added as expansion cities, they'd be the two smallest TV markets in MLB. So this makes sense if it's TV market size.
