How do you increase the number of errors in the league totals?

I have created a semi-pro league that will use the settings for 1948 baseball.
Each year I want to stats to be similar to MLB, EXCEPT FOR THE LEAGUE FIELDING AVERAGE. I would like to lower the team fielding average from .975 (MLB) to about .930.

Is this possible?

I have tripled the frequency in the game engine configuration file. This has always worked to lower the league fielding average for me in previous leagues.

Should I also change the POSITIONS MODIFIERS on the GAME SETTINGS PAGE?

# Game Engine configuration file
# Editing is simple: When you want an event to occur more often, raise the number of the event.
# Default is 100.
# Example: If you want the double-play frequency to be increased by 20%, enter 120 instead of 100 under GAME_DOUBLE_PLAY_FREQUENCY

BY USING THE CONFIG FILE ENGINE AND THE POSITION MODIFIERS, WOULD THIS BE OVERKILL?

If so, what percentage of change do you make in each position?

I would like to triple the frequency of errors.

In '48 a team averaged 146 errors a season... I would like each team to have over 500 errors per 154 game schedule... at least three a game.

Should I triple the numbers listed by each player to accomplish this?

I have researched the semi-pro league stats I'm using and they have 0 to 5 errors per game per team on average

Your help would be appreciated.

wouldn't you have to do that in the game settings/league setting/stats & ai screen and set your modifiers to like 3?

jazzrack, all of the modifiers are not 1.000 for the position modifiers.

See "ERRORS" on the right.

Here's what they look like in my league.

The manual doesn't tell you how to adjust these numbers.

I have no real clue myself, I assume 1.00 is modern day equivalent and increasing the modifier increases errors.

but I could be backwards, this modifier stuff gives me a headache. (I understand league totals modifiers even less)

In general when you want to change "LEAGUE TOTALS", you increase the numbers to decrease them in the game... and lower the numbers to raise them.

I never mess with LEAGUE TOTALS... the manual even warns you to stay clear of them.

In "LEAGUE MODIFIERS", you decrease the numbers to lower the numbers in the game stats... raise the numbers to increase them.

Make sure you know the difference between "League Totals" and "League Modifiers".

Since I know changing the error frequency in the config engine does work in lowering the field percentage, I will just use it and see how it affects it.

I won't use the position modifiers until some one has the definitive answer.

Just a thought:

I could iimport the stats for a season when the league FA was around .925 and run a test league using the positions modifiers for that season.

I would manually put the new position modifiers numbers in... that way i wouldn't be changing the other stats for my 1948 season.

I am a bit old school and remember the days when we only had league totals I can understand those. I think because I understood those the modifiers confuse me.

I am personally reluctant to make big swings, I have this strange fear that the game engine will over-compensate. and historical players add another layer of complexity.

I use totals & modifiers for a particular year as a guide to make small adjustments towards.

I have played about 12 games in my State Line League so far and the config file in the game engine is doing its job.

Several times teams have committed four and five errors in a game.

The league fielding average is .964, which I am pleased with.

The league BA is .289, which is good... and the league ERA is 4.05.
OOTPB is right on the money.

There have been 33 errors committed in 12 games.

I may kick the frequency of error setting up to 350 and see if the FA will drop to around .950.

sweet, happy you have found your solution. I have never messed with the config file. have never thought about it to be honest.

I am still sometimes amazed at how many ways this game can be used
