Custom playoffs fix
(This is technically a legacy issue, but since we don't have a legacy issues thread this year...)
When reseeding custom playoffs, oftentimes OOTP does the re-seeding based on record rather than on the teams' actual seeds. This can lead to wild-cards "jumping" division winners seeding-wise, which should not be happening. My suggestion for OOTP16 is to use the "wild cards seeded lowest" option as a "wild cards never host division winners" option if re-seeding is turned off. IF PLAYOFFS BASED ON POSITIONING, OR IF RE-SEEDING IS OFF: 1) Do not re-seed, as matchups are determined strictly by the bracket. 2) If "wild cards never host" is on, division winners automatically host wild cards. 3) Else, determine home field by record. (If tied between a division winner and a wild card, division winner hosts. If tied between two division winners and two wild cards, host is random.) IF RE-SEEDING IS ON: 1) Using the teams' existing seeds from the previous round, order teams in the first subleague from best to worst. 2) The best team hosts the worst team, the second-best team hosts the second-worst team, et cetera. 3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the second subleague, if applicable. ODDBALL PLAYOFFS: A) If there are multiple spots from a division guaranteed playoff access, only the teams which did not qualify through division placement are treated as wild cards. B) If there were cross-subleague playoff matchups in the previous round in a bracket with reseeding enabled, the two subleagues are treated as one and cross-subleague matchups are allowed in all future rounds. C) If the number of remaining teams is not a power of two, only teams with byes in the previous round are allowed byes. No team may have a bye in the round after the first postseason round in which they play. |
