Roy Hobbs

I play fictional only and sometimes I'll create a Roy Hobbs.

Curious if anyone else does and what you came up with for his ratings.

I used BBRef Bullpen - Roy Hobbs - BR Bullpen to have something to work with. I create his potentials using those stats. It doesn't give 2b's or 3b's but I used 28 n 2 respectively. The rest of his attributes, height, weight, personality I just guessed. Cedar Rapids is the closest city to Sabotac Valley, Iowa that's in the world DB, so I chose that as his city of origin.

Here's what I come up with:

Also, if anyone has ever created him as a pitcher, what did you come up with? I couldn't find any type of projections as to what he would be as a pitcher. Looked like he had a ton of potential as a young man, and he could still bring it when he was 35.

When i created him back when I was on High Heat I made up his Coruscant CBF stats and then I belive created him as a random player for HH. so he never turned out to be a great player. Since I have him again on OOTP I use the stats that I have saved from HH/TLR3. He does have power and will get better then he was in 2021 but not much.

Also here is Dreamteams Roy Hobbs fg.

With many of the movie baseball stars I tend to make them clones of real players. Rick Vaughn is Nolan Ryan, Eddie Harris is Gaylord Perry, Roger Dorn - Travis Fryman, Jake Taylor is Fisk, etc. i have stats for Henry Rowngatdner & Billy Heywood and Bingo Long.

Thanks for the link, interesting list. I've done Billy Chapel a few times, but no others. Might have to start looking in to adding more.

I do Jigger Statz (real life player) quite often, he's the "other guy" with over 4000 hits that nobody has ever heard of mainly because the vast majority of his hits were accumulated in the minors. Still an impressive number though imo.

Of the 25 I have in my league now.
25. Parkman like his character in MLII he is an arse. Played for teh Madison Pirates of the eBL for several years. Right now he is on Cleveland and will get traded to teh White Sox in July.
.280 270 HR 1038 RBI .356 OBP in 14 seasons.

24. Stan Ross is a clone of Stan Musial so you know he should be great. Currently playing LF for the Brewers in his 4th season.
.293 18 HR 427 Hits.

23. Porter is not in my league but maybe I will add him next season.
22. Eddie Harris is a junkball pitcher who has played his entire career for the Indians. clone of Gaylord Perry
51-76 4.76 in 10 seasons.

21. Jack Elliott was a solid 1B for the Tigers for many years. Clone of Norm Cash. Hit a total if 10 HR for the Dragons. Now he is listed as a SS for the Lakeland Tigers.
.271 334 HR 1030 RBI in 12 seasons.

20. Chet Steadman is one of the better Cubs pitchers. still young. Clone of Mike Morgan? 59-20 3.24 in 5 seasons.
19. T-Rex has yet to appear in my league. He debuts in 2030.
18. Billy Andersons rookie year is around 2028
17. Who doesn't love Billy Chapel. Rookie year is 2035 for the Delgado Tiger sin the EBL. Will be a clone of someone, not sure who yet.
16. Mel Clark - forgot who i made him a clone of but he is 46-44 3.67 732 K in 6 seasons. 2025 will be the Angels in the Outfield season. Clark went 17-9 in 2021.
15. Bobby Rayburn is based off of the book not the movie. in the book he was a 2B not an OF which was based off of Barry Bonds. His rookie year is around 2025 and he is nothing special.

14. Moonlight Graham real player so who know what he already did.
13. Mickey Dominguez i will have to add him i have the other 2 from Summer Catch around 2038.
12. Roger Dorn, clone of Travis Fryman. Has played with the Indians his entire career.32 yrs old now and is more of a DH now.
.254 182 HR 727 RBI 1 time AS no GG.

11. Willie Mays Hayes, clone of Kenny Lofton. ROTY in 2021. .290 33 SB
10. Ryan Dunne appears around 2038 or so.
9. Bingo Long. #1 pick overall by the expansion Pontiac Vipers in the 2029 draft. Biggest bust ever. Never got out of the minors before he messed up his elbow. This time around we will see what he does although his injury rating will be through the roof. Will be a clone of Satch.
8. Nuke Laloosh. In the other games I played he struck out 400 batters in one season but also walked 130 batters. Plays for the Ford Thunderbirds around 2031.

7. Pedro Cerrano, clone of Sammy Sosa. Played his 1st 3 season with the Marlins, in his 2nd season with Cleveland.
.226 87 HR 626 K in 5 seasons. Hit .243 17 HR 142 K in 109 Games with Cleveland in 2021. (in week 2 of the 2022 season)
6. Jet Rodriguez. Rookie with the Skywalker Jedi Knights. He has Jacen Solo clone of Ray Durham in front of him this year. Jet is similar to Fernando Vina.

5. Jake Taylor clone of Fisk has played for 7 teams in his 14 seasons, twice with Cleveland. Right now the backup to Parkman. Will take over as MGR this season.
.241 150 HR 482 RBI

4. Steve Nebraska will be a rookie in 2023 with the Lake Venus Cheetahs and becomes the best pitcher for the next 15 years. In later years he is more like Roger Clemens especially after he gets traded to the Gotham City Batmen along with Doc Holliday. He also can play RF and 1B and was a .334 lifetime hitter on TLR3 and HH. Let's see how OOTP deals with him especially since I have the DH in place in both leagues til 2026.

3. Crash Davis is a rookie in 2026 with the Paradise City Roses and is above average. He did hit .391 one year but then hit .219 the next.

2. Wild Thing was a rookie in 2021.clone of Nolan Ryan. OOTP had him as the SU to CL Eddie Harris despite his 10 STA.
3-3 3.38 2 SV 46 G 61 IP 73 K 38 BB last year.
in 2022 he has appeared in 4 games starting 1.

1. Roy Hobbs see above.

Edit: i have the entire cast of Bingo Long appearing in my league and the C Leon Carter is a star for Atlantis Sharks. I will have Jermaine Rainbow on Willowbrook around 2029 as a 2B. Esquire Calloway is a superstar with the Anderson Indians.
Rube Baker is with Columbus Clippers and will most likely come up when Parkman is traded. forgot who i made him a clone of. Isaru Tanaka is a clone of Ichiro and currently platoons in LF.
Clu Hayword is a power hitting 1B with the Yankees.
Chappy's C will also play for the Delgado Tigers around 20235.
The CF, forgot his name plays for the NY Yankees.
Sergio Santos will play for the KC Royals around 2038.
Cast of MLIII will appear. The knuckleballer had some success with the Glenbard Cougars, he willbe a clone of Charlie Hough or Wakefield this time around.
Henry Rowengardner will appear with the Cubs next season. Nothing special.
Billy Heywood plays and manages the Willowbrook Warriors around 2026.
more on those last 2 in my dynasty thread in the coming years.

Roy Hobbs will also appear in my ABF league eventually around 1930. clone of a pitcher at 1st then as maybe Ted Williams. or as Ted Williams but as P with high injury ratings. Would like to see what he would do in the Polo Grounds playing for the NY Knights.

Edit2
Steve Nebraskas stats from High Heat and Ed Sullivan from whatever that movie was along with his FG.

They missed Ralph Hinkley.

I guess they were trying to stick to movies, though.

Wow. I'd never heard of him before. Now I know where the curse of the Cubs really comes from: they left him languishing in the minors through all of those fantastic seasons. I wonder why.

A nice little run for Mr. Hobbs

Quote:
Hobbs's 52-Game Hitting Streak Ends: The 52-game hitting streak of 28-year-old left fielder Roy Hobbs came to an end today at Brawlers Park. The Quest held him hitless in 3 at-bats and also sent the Green Bay Brawlers down to defeat 10-2.

To date this year Hobbs is batting .433 with 20 home runs.
