Player Trades not working
So I just purchased the game yesterday. Set up my team, played a few games, then decided to make a trade. The issue I'm having is that it's telling my that I already have 50 players under contract, but I'm attempting a player for player swap of two NHLers. Am I doing something wrong or is this a known bug?

Should be known if they read the bug thread on tech support forum.
Didn't even let me sign a FA when I had 49/50 contracts. Everything started working again at 48/50. |

Sometimes - if you have 49/50 signed - and you have an open offer to another player - they won't let you try to sign another. Do you have open offers to other players?

Nope. It was right at the beginning of the season, after buying out 5 players to take my contracts from 54 to 49.

Was this issue ever resolved? I just purchased FHM, started up a new game as GM of the Canadiens, and tried to make a trade, but got the same error as the OP. I tried a player-for-player trade and even got the same error attempting to trade a player for a draft pick.
Is there a workaround or a way to avoid this? Thanks for your help! ![]() |

I figured out what the problem is: even though there is apparently a maximum of 50 players who can be on your roster at any given time, Montreal starts the game with 52 players. In this case, the game won't let you make even a 2-for-1 trade, as you'd still end up with 51 players. I had to make a 3-for-1 trade to get down to 50 and then play as usual.
