History text lost on backup loading
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?
Perhaps make my own backup zip file?

If you are doing this from the in-game backup, I'm not sure what happened. Your history text should not have disappeared. I've restored from backups using that method and it's been fine.
What can sometimes happen, if you've changed the folder to which you're backing up at any point, is that you may only have a partial backup of the most recently changed files. By default, OOTP only backs up the files that have changed since your last backup. So, if you did a full backup, changed your backup folder location, and did another backup, it would only backup the files that had changed since your initial full backup. If you then try to restore that partial backup, you might be missing some important files (like histories of players that hadn't changed since the initial backup). The important thing to remember is this - if you change the backup folder location, click the button to backup all files (can't remember the exact name of the button). That way you know your backup folder has a full backup. Then you can just do the regular incremental backups after that. To keep archives of backups (in case you want to go back in time two years or something), I will usually create a zip file of my backup folder after I do backups at important points of the season and name the zip file accordingly (e.g. MyLeague-2014-beginpreseason.zip). It starts taking up space, but it allows you to go back to a prior, complete backup of your league if you need to. Unfortunately, none of this information helps solve your current problem. If you have changed backup folder locations, you can try copying the files from the new backup location to the old backup location, then do a restore from the old backup location to see if that works. Good luck! |

Thanks, man. I've never changed the location, and I've always done a full backup. Very odd, and it's happening in multiple leagues I've tested with.

That's odd. My main league is still using OOTP14 (I plan to convert it to OOTP15 now that the last patch has been released), so I'll see if I start seeing similar backup issues once I'm using 15 full time.
