May be coming back to OOTP - question
I've been away from OOTP for the last four seasons or so but have been thinking about getting back on board ... I use to love playing OOTP once upon a time ... so why not?
I have one question, though, for current users. I used to like to play a historical fictional league set in the 1940s ... accordingly, I liked to have the game generate fictional names that were true the era. It was not an easy task to get OOTP to properly do this -- particular after playing to later seasons where names were different (and ethnic players began to be more prominent). Anyone else do this? Any sense of how hard/easy it is in OOTP 15 to start a league in the 1940s with era-appropriate names, and play it through to the 1980s or so, having the new players with era-appropriate names adjust as necessary? Thanks. Scott |

Yes, the game had hard-coded player origins that reflected modern percentages. So if you were trying to start a league in 1940, you'd still end up with a bunch of Hispanic players, along with some Japanese and Korean players. That's no longer the case. Although the game defaults to the modern percentages, those can be changed in the in-game world editor. Extended namesets can be found in the names & nations mods sub-forum.

May want to look into Questdog's Names for OOTP15... My favorite and IMO the best mod out there... Here is a link to his thread:
