Two AI Issues - Is there a setting?????
1) Lineup AI when letting manager choose Depth Chart/Lineups
Is there an .cfg edit or setting that will only let players play positions they are 'qualified' for? example: Position Players: C Jocko Milligan C Ed Whiting 1B Ed Cartwright 1B Patsy Tebeau 2B John Pickett 2B Sam Wise 3B Lave Cross 3B Billy Shindle SS Bones Ely SS George Shoch LF Tommy Dowd LF Harry Stovey CF Jim Fogarty CF Dummy Hoy RF Harry Lyons RF Billy Sunday Lineup: 1) LF Stovey - LF Rating 56, Overall 38 2) 2B Dowd - He is not an IFer. LF 49, RF 35 Overall 28 (Why is he playing second base???) 3) SS Cross - SS Rating 35 - Catcher rating 74! Overall 66 (Why is he not catching????) 4) 3B Same Wise - Not a 3B! 10 at 1B and 28 at 2B. Overall 57 (Why is he playing 3B?) 5) 1B Cartwright - 1B Rating 26 Overall 39 6) CF Hoy - No position rating - OF range 56, Error 18 and arm 53 - overall 31 7) RF Fogarty - RF rating of 45 - Overall 38 8) C Milligan - Catcher 68 rating - 1B 42 - Overall 27 Is there a setting or cfg edit for this??? ------------- Issue #2 - The Cubs traded away two SPs with ERAs of less that 3.00 - Cubs AI GM keeps grabbing shortstops. :-) Is there a setting or cfg edit for this??? LOL!!!!

No, there is not... it's pure AI, in all its glory.

Please give us a .cfg setting or preference setting that keeps players from being put into positions they have no rating for. Pretty please :-)

The game already tries that, it's basically #1 priority. No clue why your case is different, I'd need the league files to have a look at this...

I'd like to take a second to thank Markus for his outstanding presence and responsiveness on the forum of late.
Thank you, Markus. It's appreciated.

The thing is, I have times when I enjoy being around here, and other times I don't. Right now I do, because the next update is almost done, and after that I'm on vacation for 3 weeks, finally.

No. I can only handle one, that's more than enough. Jeff & Brad are over there quite often, though.

Well, it is now 1905. Not prohibition yet but into 'modern baseball' now. What do I need to send to you file-wise from my league to show you problems with AI managers choosing defensive lineups? Found a few glaring examples....

Never mind Markus - but have a question :-)
After looking at the roster and the manager's options, I probably do the same thing - LOL!
Note: On both of these teams' rosters, they have 3 Cs and 2 of every other position. Here is one team's lineup: CF Harry Bay SS Del Howard 1B Frank Chance LF Ed Delahanty 2B Jim Delahanty RF John Titus 3B Joe Yeager C Admiral Schlei I use 1-100 scale to get as large a variation between players as a I can get. CF Bay is a 52 CF and 6 LF SS Howard is a 61 1B, 41 LF and 35 RF Not a SS. Infield Range is 56, Infield Error is 21, Infield Arm is 57 and Turn DP is 56. 1B Chance is a 75 1B LF Delahanty is 37 years old. Great hitter. LF of 1 and 1B of 7 - think Richie Zisk - LOL! 2B Delahanty is a 35 3B and 16 LF, not a second baseman. Infields numbers are 48/22/60/42 RF Titus is a 56 RF and 48 LF 3B Yeager is a 51 3B, a 35 2B and a 29 SS C Schlei is a 54 catcher. My question is why Howard at SS and Delahanty at 2B when they are not 'qualified' for those positions? Is the Infield ratings 'trumping' the qualified positions? Four players on the team are qualified at SS, including Yeager. Kid Gleason is a 1 at SS and 38 at Scond but not that great a stick so I agree with leaving him on the pine. Tommy Corcoran has awesome IF #s (62/72/60/60) and is a 48 SS, 41 2B and 1 3B. But he also does not hit that well. Monte Cross is a 34 SS and (52/74/50/50) but also does not hit that well. Manager favors offense over defense by about 60/40. So I can see the AI doing what it is doing now IF the infield ratings are being looked at even though players are not 'qualified' for those positions. My question is are these players far more prone to make errors because not qualified or is the Infield error rating still used as if they are? Team #2 - this manager is 50/50 on favoring offense or defense. 1B John Hummel LF Billy Maloney CF Doc Gessler RF Bill Keister 2B Larry Schlafly C Branch Rickey 3B Harvey Smith SS Butts Wagner 1B Hummel is a 40 1B (and 40 2B and 36 LF) LF Maloney is a 50 LF (and 45 CF and 61 RF) CF Doc Gessler is NOT a CF. He is a 10 1B, 36 LF and 25 RF. Great hitter and fast. I don't see any outfield ratings for range or arm or error? I see them in editor. 140 range (told you he is fast - LOL!), 41 error and 73 arm. RF Keister is a 6 RF (36 2B, 8 3B, 24 SS) 2B Schlafly is a 40 2B C Rickey is a 47 C 3B Smith is a 51 3B SS Butts Wagner is not a SS - he is a 14 3B. His position on roster screen is SS but he does not show SS as a qualified position. On the bench Harry Lochhead is a 17 SS and can't hit a lick. The other SS is playing right field (Keister). Again, my question is how much of a 'hit' does a player take fielding-wise for playing a position he is not qualified for? Do IF and OF ratings still hold true? Thank You for all you do!
