OOTP14 to OOTP15?

Hey guys,

Huge lurker on these forums and love OOTP... own FHM as well and as a Hockey nut I cannot wait for that game to reach the status that OOTP has. Anyways... I also am an iOOTP player when I am out and about and passing some time.

Here is my question, as I am sure many before me have asked. I go through spurts with not only this game but pretty much all games in general wether is for say PS4 or a little silly iPhone game like candy crush etc. At this stage of the game is it worth it to purchase OOTP15 if I have 14? Considering I am a a sporadic player?

I love love love love the depth of this game but after periods of time I lose interest for quite some time until I start reading up everything on these forums. I wish I could hold more of a consistent interest and play this game all the time.

I guess this topic is kind of me just speaking out loud like a crazy person... anyone who may be in a similar position to me or be a similar player who goes through spurts, feel free to comment. Sorry for the rambling!

Yes. This is the best version ever.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

If reading up on the forums is what gets you energized to play the game, then I have two suggestions.

1) Read the forums more often.
2) Buy the version that most people on the forums are playing, because a discussion that might make you think of awesome that you can see or do might not apply to an older version.

As a sporadic player, I think it's partly a function of your disposable income. If you normally spend a decent amount on games every year, it's absolutely worth it as a part of your gaming budget. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, and you're only a part-time player who has other primary entertainment options, I'd probably wait for your financial situation to change, or for you to decide to make OOTP your primary (or at least top 3) entertainment option.

Thank you for the response! I greatly appreciate it! Reading the forums and looking over everyones situations and fictional worlds gets me excited to play... which is actually what lead me to playing again.

It does look like a big chunk of players are playing OOTP15, and I think it does look beautiful. The money for the game is not an issue for my finances, as I am a pretty avid gamer. My issue seems to be I play a game religiously for a chunk of time and then become burned out. So since a new iteration is released every year I plan to continue my NYM franchise that I am in my 4th year in so I was curious if its worth spending 40 bucks on if I don't play it year round, it that makes sense?

It does make sense. If you play it religiously for a time and have the income, it's absolutely worth it. I have only continued franchises instead of creating new ones myself, and the little additions like walk-off hits and Grand Slams as achievements (in the player's history page) have added a degree of depth to those leagues that I enjoy. The ability to customize Spring Training length to give my guys an extra week (6 instead of the standards 5) to learn new positions, and to add up to 60 players to a Spring Training roster are also valuable additions.

Bottom line, buy it. For your situation, I'd buy it.

I think you've sold me. I've been off work for 4th of July holiday shutdown and have been playing non-stop! I am hooked again! Not that the extra money is an issue but doesn't the OOTP team offer "all-star discount" usually every year?

One more question if I may just ask it in this thread... this is kind of a big thing for me... are th schedules still the same every year? I find it somewhat confusing importing a schedule file that was created; I wish "the game" created/re-generated their own

As always thanks again for taking the time to type a response!

Yes, buy it. An Auto Play Do Not Disturb option replaces the dreaded Go On Vacation.
