AI handling waivers & player development
So far in my NHL game (third season), my assistant waived Taylor Hall once (reloaded an older save...), other teams have lost Zetterberg and Zajac to waivers. I assume this is because they get in a cap pinch, but they should obviously target waiving lesser players to get under the cap before their stars.
Also, what the deal with player development? I drafted McDavid as a potential 10.5A, after 40 NHL games he's dropped to a potential 9.0A (but progressed from ability 6.5A to 7.0A). Other players got any tips on how to handle this or any insight from JeffR & Co on how this really works? I know the skill of your scouting matters but there're some significant drops in ceiling taking place with players. |

There is certainly a cap issue with waivers. I posted this elsewhere, but I had Detroit offer me a trade for Henrik Tallinder and then they waived a bunch of starters and stars to afford him...including Gustav Nyquist...I'm pretty sure the developers are aware of it...
at least I hope so.
