Rule 5 Draft?!?!?
I noticed that players (26 years old) are being picked in this draft now. In the past I would rarely see any players picked up and if a player was selected he would be some old 30+ year old vet who has become a AAAA player.
Is this a result of one of the patches tweaking things that ended up making the draft "realistic" ??? I must point out that I started to notice this change once I switch OVR to be based on all players instead of relative to positions. Could that be the culprit??? Picks in the Rule 5 draft come and go. I've seen 3-4 taken one year, then seasons go by before a few more are taken.
In my current save a simmed 10 seasons and took over the worst team. I made 3 Rule 5 selections, only 1 of which turned out well. There were 3 others taken in that draft. Then five seasons went by without a pick, and then after a 102 win season, I lost a guy and one other player was taken. BTW, in that 102 win season, I finished second by 15 games.

Rule 5 Draft?!?!?

Yup same for me in the past. In my lastest season, 17 players were selected in the draft. Not one of them were over 30, they ranged from 24-26 year old players. I usually only see 4 on a good day and they are usually vets. This have been going on for consecutive seasons. (3 years since I switch to OVR based on all players) Last edited by SirMichaelJordan; 04-17-2014 at 02:32 PM. |

A little off track but is there a way to see a draft log (for rule V or amateur draft) during the draft? I've looked in the past but haven't seen it. Sometimes, when it is my pick, I'd like to quickly see what players have been taken previously. Maybe I'm missing the obvious.

So what is the downside for drafting these players? Almost no one is picking any of them, wouldn't you want to offer your 10 picks minor league contracts and just wait and see if they do any good?
EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out. They have to stay on your active roster. CRAP, I should of read the fine print >.>
