Silly question for anyone willing to do the research
My last random debut adventure lasted 16 seasons before I did something silly and decided to start over. Actually it was a combination of silly things + not being totally in love with using 1 year recalc that led me down the path of league destruction. But, that's water under my socks.
The above league started in 1950 and consisted of 12 teams, 1 sub league. I expanded to 14 right before I decided to scrap the league (right before I started simming). The draft for this league consisted of only 5 rounds. Just for fun, before I deleted the league from my computer, I let the game sim season after season just for fun. By the time I deleted the league, the sim had reached the year 2150 and I still hadn't run out of players. Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb still had yet to appear.
So, my question??? My new random debut league is a 16 team, 2 subleagues of 8 setup. I have my minimum year set to 1902 and my max year set to 2012. How many rounds to you think my draft should consist of? In my above league, I clearly wasn't using enough rounds. I would like to bring in players at a rate that would sustain my league for at least 100-120 years. Thanks.
I should add that I don't want to have too many rounds per season, simply due to the fact that players make their debuts MLB ready for the most part. Trying to avoid huge talent logjams, but still not short myself.
