How do I fix schedule?

I want to make a new schedule for my fictional MLB like league. I don't want a schedule like the real life one because two teams play a week earlier (Australia series). How can I make it more like other seasons? If I leave it how it is, will the schedule be like that every season or just the first one?

You can edit the schedule by going to League Settings and then Options. On there, you'll see Edit League Schedule in the upper right. Now select the Available Actions drop down in the upper right and choose "import from file". Now click on the schedules folder and choose one of the schedules that begin with "major_league". Find the one that has a year that supported the same league structure as you have with a type of schedule you like and then click load.

Or you could also look through the ILY and ILN schedules and find one that has the right number of games, sub-leagues, divisions and teams per division that match up with your league. ILY means interleague schedules, while ILN has no interleague, by the way.

Thanks I'll try that out.

I found the schedule I wanted and imported it but I want it to start on a different day. I tried to change the season beginning date but when I generated a new schedule it went back to the 2014 schedule (which I sorta expected). Help?

You can edit the schedule file to fix this. Once you open the file in a text editor, the start date is on the first line.

You should be careful when deleting games on the schedule editor because it's real easy to delete the wrong game. Keep an eye on the ID so you won't delete the wrong game. It past years when deleting, the game would light up, so making a mistake was more difficult.

Hmmm, I recall discussions to edit the 2014 MLB schedule included with OOTP to move the overseas games in Australia to dates later in the season. I guess that change was never actually implemented?

Anyway, here's the best dates to which to move the two games in Australia:
  • move one of the games to Thursday, May 15 (an open date for both LA and Arizona).
  • move the other game to Thursday, August 28 (also an open date for both clubs)
Games moved to these two dates also won't violate the MLB scheduling rule limiting clubs to a maximum of 20 days in a row of scheduled games.

Except that MLB doesn't do scheduled doubleheaders anymore (barring a few rare exceptions).

My schedule maker has no problem scheduling doubleheaders. It's one of the main reason's I play the game. I want it different than the real world.

The original poster said he didn't want a schedule like they do in real life.

I moved the original Dodger/Arizona series to the back end of the regular season as a doubleheader.

Don't know why they(MLB) schedule a few doubleheaders, just to shorten the length of the regular season. They could charge double admission or have day/night doubleheaders.

Doubleheaders are almost an everyday occurrence in the minors(caused by bad weather).

So I imported the 2013 schedule but after every season it reverts to the 2014 season schedule ,so if I don't catch it, then I have to live with the 2014 season schedule once again. Why do I have to keep importing the schedule? HELP

I'll have to test this. I'm quite certain it's not supposed to work this way. If this is a bug, I'll log it, so can someone else confirm this?

The players don't like doubleheaders, especially day-night ones. Clubs don't seem that interested in them either. (Let's remember too the real-life rule—not as yet included in OOTP—which allows clubs a 26-man active roster for doubleheaders scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.)

Yes, and that's because the schedules there are quite time-compressed, leaving few mutual open dates on which to schedule games. The schedules for the full season leagues run 152 days, in which clubs play either 140, 142, or 144 games. That means just 12, 10, or 8 scheduled days off. (In the majors it's 20 scheduled days off.) There's also travel costs, which are a much larger factor in the minors, so extra travel to make up a postponed game is not done. Games are not made up at all in the minors at a considerably higher rate than in the majors.

Well, it can and should work that way as ootp will use the best match schedule for future years and in his case, it'll be 2014 unless their structure changes. ootp will only rearrange the matchups based on his 2013 schedule when it can't find a match such as the 2014.
If the user wants to use the same schedule then just replace the year in the .lsdl file with the furture years or just remove the 2014 schedule from the schedules folder and put it someplace else. It's not a bug..
He could also make copies of his 2013 schedule and change the year for each. ie:2014,2015,2016 etc.

Speaking of .lsdl what is the difference between the schedule with and without .lsdl?

structuraly ..nothing, but ootp has to have it with the .lsdl extension. It won' import any other way that I know of. The schedule is nothing more than an xml file.
