Trouble Loading Game Between Seasons

Hello, I've been playing the game for a couple months now and love it. However, I'm about 25 seasons into a franchise and it seems that as I sim when I get to the end of each calendar year (I have it set up to save automatically then) that the game gets stuck there for a period of time and and it says something like "computer not responding" up at the top. It will eventually get past that if I leave it long enough but it seems that this should not be happening. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Something I should delete or clear out that could be causing this to happen? Anyone else ever experience this or is it my own weird problem? Thanks for any help.

This is fine. Be patient or buy a new rig.

Advice:

Get familiar with back-ups. A save is not enough. You should back-up your game frequently in addition to frequent saves. One save a year with no back-ups either could lead to disaster.

This... I backup every week (game time) saved me a bunch.

I started my league with historical 1999 MLB i am in 2020 now. Took 45 mins to go from dEc31st to January 1st each of the last 2 seasons. i also have 4 additional leagues i have added. I noticed it took longer after many of the recent 14 patches then prior to that. take a nap, eat lunch, get a beer by then it should be done. as far as backups i back up my game 3 times a year. January after i make changes. OD and right after the EBL World Series. i save weekly. I think weekly backups is overkill.

If you mean the Dec 31-Jan 1 save then it is working exactly to spec. During this save the game wraps up a lot of data as of Dec 31 and creates a multitude of csv files. If you have the Almanac set it will also create it at that time.

Depending on the size of your league this can take some time. If it is the only save you do I can see it taking a long time. Either way this behavior is completely normal.

I use the Jan 1 result of this save to create a full backup, then I strip out all box scores replays game logs and messages, rename and re-save the file for the new season The resulting league file is much smaller and less likely to crash IMO.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't complaining. I love the game. If that long save is a part of the package, then that's fine. Not a big deal. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something to cause it that I could possibly avoid.

Yeah it holds up for me at the end of the year too. In previous versions it was quite a lot quicker (at least for me) but I don't mind that much...
