IFA, after being released 3 times goes to college?

Looking through my current draft prospects, I notice this guy out of college who had stats before college(feeder) in rookie league.. so I look at his transaction page and this is what it shows:

I want to command him for trying to get an education, but I don't think this should happen... correct?

Actually it can happen. It's really, really rare but is possible.

It's a little known rule but if a player who has played no more than two years in a pro league directly after high school, and progressed no higher than rookie (or perhaps S-A) level, they can still retain college eligibility to play baseball.

I only know of two guys who have done this. One is Nolan Clark who played in the Phillies system in 2011 and currently plays for NAIA powerhouse Concordia U Irvine.

The other is Nick Tindall who was drafted by the Twins in 2009 and played two years in the minors.

He played last year for D2's Quincy U and is playing this year for the University of Tampa. They're the defending D2 champions and a powerhouse team that's produced more draft picks over the years than most top D1 schools.

This article about Tindall explains a bit more about the rule.

And it appears the player in question qualified under that rule.

Still, if you have only one feeder, it is recommended to not allow free agents from other leagues to join it.

I need to allow it, because I want the HS FA to join, so I will live with this.. interesting that technically there is a way in RL where this would be acceptable, I always assumed if you had been paid you could not go back, didn't know it was linked to having an agent
