New to ootp..question about amateur drafts

When I start a major league season in 2014 and get to the amateur draft, will the draft pool consist of real college and high school players that will be drafted later this year?

Just wondering....

The last couple of years this has been the case, so I imagine its the same for this year too.

If it can have all the Players and Pitchers who are going to be in it but at the moment we don't what High Schoolers or Underclassman are going to declare for Draft. Also future Drafts like 2915 and beyond if we selected Random Draft Class then that's what Draft Pool should show up and be a mix of Rookies and Veterans so one year you might get Jeter as a Rookie and one year as a Veteran.

Next question: Are they're mods that are created that have the actual draft pool that can be uploaded into the game prior to the draft from year to year.

Is that possible?

It should be possible through the game's import and export functions, but I don't think it's ever actually been done.

If you're talking historical players you have two options actually. There is Spritze HS database which imports players when they were historically 18 years old so technically you have real draft class this year.

I also have a database based on Spritze's HS database that imports them when they made their pro debut. (I'm not sure I will do a version for OOTP15)

Yes. But not just the 2014 draft...

In previous years we'd have a few hundred real players in the current year's MLB draft pool.

For the first time this year the 2014, 2015 and 2016 drafts in the MLB roster set will all be completely filled with real players. Credit for that goes to Matt Garrioch, who some of you prospect nuts may know from from minorleagueball.com. He's taken over the work on the draft classes and done a fantastic job.

The players in the drafts are still a bit of a wip, the ratings etc. will continue to be adjusted over time. But this is an incredible new feature and Matt deserves a TON of credit for all the work he's done getting the real draft prospects into the game.
