expansion changes??
Hi.....is the expansion draft changing to make it work more like it has in real life (protect 15, lose 1, protect 3 more, etc)?

We don't know yet, but it's not a top priority.

understood. I have no idea how hard this would be to code; but I'd guess not too hard....it's a matter of handling it in steps instead of all at once. I have no idea if anyone but me cares about this, but I don't get why something that has happened several times, and all basically the same way is not treated that was in a game that is so realistic in every other way.
Maybe if others care about a realistic expansion draft they will speak up too. |

I got your back, Chris.
I make an expansion team every year (The Vancouver Navigators) and have been doing so for about 10 years now. Any way to make that any more realistic, the better. It is a lot of fun to take everyone else's cast offs and see what can do with them. It's the only way I play. |

Aside from coding, one of the problems with expansion is that the MLB itself has never decided how it actually should be done. Seemingly every expansion draft they have done has been different from the last.
I've always enjoyed being an expansion team in the past, but although I plan a lot of expansion, my current league type setup (no trading, draft and FA only) rewards staying with one team for the long term. |

well, the last number of expansions have pretty much had the same rules, and have definitely had the same concept....you protect a number of players, lose 1, then pull back more. I'm not technical enough to know how hard this is to code, and to hold the expansion in "waves".....but I would assume it would be a matter of using the existing logic and repeating it 3 times.

It's all doable, but I think it would take a lot more work than just repeating the existing logic. |

There's one notable change in the expansion procedures: the inclusion of teams in both leagues in the expansion draft in 1993 and 1998 whereas in the expansions prior only teams in the expanding league were subject to losing players.
