MLB League creation question

A new player here with a quick question. So I would like to play with the MLB rosters, but I want to play with fewer than 30 teams (16 teams). Can I do that in OOTP14 easily, or what customization do I need to do to make it work? Thanks for any advice!

Yes. Right after you start a new MLB game from the Start Screen, go immediately to League Setup and click Edit League Structure. There you can eliminate 14 teams if you wish. Each time you do, you will see this message:

ARE YOU SURE? This will remove the team from the league, free all players and unaffiliate all minor league teams of that team.

This is good to keep in mind because you may be fine with the free agent pool being populated with the stars of those eliminated teams; they will be signed eventually but maybe not right away.

Or maybe you are not fine with that. In this case, you have two options, also in League Setup: Schedule Fantasy Draft (which releases ALL players first) or Schedule Free Agent Draft (which may necessitate becoming the commissioner and making some roster room on the remaining teams).

One thing for sure: You must go one more time to League Setup and click Edit League Schedule or else you are going to have some problems. You can do it manually or just click Generate Fictional Schedule at the bottom of the Schedule Editor screen.

Hey Bru, I would like more information this option, as I do not see it (perhaps it is not available due to the setup/settings of my league), nor do I find reference to it in the manual. If you could explain more and/or point me towards a thread, I would be most-appreciative. Thanks in advance.

Actually, as I often do, I performed what I was talking about in my advice, step by step, from starting a New Major League Game to seeing that I was ready for the Free Agent Draft with Juan Bautista, Joe Mauer, and Stephen Strasburg as the top three picks! That's as far as I got though I doubt there would be any great difficulties from that point on else the league would not have been so easy to edit in such a fashion. Just don't forget to generate a new schedule. All of the editing functions that I mentioned are in this screen:

Only problem with FA Draft is you cn not skip a pick so you may go way overbudget after the draft when you get 35 new players added to your team. i need to ask Markus if this will be fixed in 15.
