Left Handed Outfielders

Is it just me or are there a lot of game generated lefty outfielders? I was playing last night (fictional league) and realized that all my outfielders at ML, AAA, AA are switch hitters or lefties. There are some righties out there but not many are good enough to make it to ML.

Am I imagining things, or has anyone else seen this too?

That certainly could be the case with your game right now. But it's not a problem with OOTP. I actually have one world going in which I'm having trouble finding a good lefty hitting outfielder. My lineup is righty heavy and I need to sign or trade for a corner outfielder and can't find one I like who hits lefty.

I think everyone has seen this because it's the way baseball works in real life. Given that lefties don't play catcher or any infield position besides first base, there aren't many places on the field where you can put a lefty hitter besides the outfield.

This, too. Although there are some guys who may hit lefty and throw righty, but they're fairly rare.

In my opinion OOTP puts too much weight on Lefty OFers. You can look at my Next series previews in my dynasty thread and see how many teams have 7-8 lefties in the lineup vs RHP. Out of the other 29 MLB teams I would say 20 have 8 lefties in their lineup vs RHP. Seems too high. Not complaining. Gives me a challenge when managing.

That's more common, but not by much. IIRC the rarest is Bats switch, Throw left.

Really? Did not know that. Seems to me it is more common. I have 9 of them in my EBL league including my son and my nephew. My dad was switch hitter who throws left handed so that why I thought it might have been more common. My nephew also did it IRL. My son is a leftie but is 3 so who knows on the switch hitting part yet. My nephew and dad never played past HS ball.

Which is why I said fairly rare, instead of very rare. (Sounds like I'm ordering a steak).

Thanks everyone, I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe in 20 years in-game it will flip the other way with no lefties all righties.
